In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
Join as our first hire on a growing Group Registered Plans & Complex Accounts function within Brokerage Operations at Wealthsimple.
Deliver operational excellence in the administration and management of group registered plans and accounts.
Be a thought leader in building the vision of the function and the plan to get there balancing the ‘quick wins’ and longer-term goals/objectives; lead the team to shape and then execute on the vision
Be a key partner to our team as a subject matter expert, to inform and support our ambitious product roadmap
Resolve complex issues by working with multiple stakeholders, evolving our practices to address the root causes of issues as they arise
Work cross-functionally with Compliance, Trading, Operations, Finance and Securities Management teams to ensure there are strong feedback loops and communication channels to continuously improve our operations processes and systems
Design and build metrics & risk controls to monitor the health of our operations (e.g., improve SLAs, account remediations)
Ensure proper registration of Group plans including all necessary documentation and coordination with the CRA for Group savings and retirement, DPSP, and other group accounts
Build and manage the Group or Bulk transfer process as part of the Group Implementation and termination process, ensuring coordination and adherence to SLAs and Processes with other OFIs and Carriers
Manage the “money movement” process, working collaboratively with Engineering, Treasury, and, Client experience to ensure regular contributions, transfers, withdrawals, and client money interactions operate flawlessly
Report on and optimize key processes, removing friction and wait times for Group and Individual clients alike
Develop, update, and maintain detailed documentation of processes, workflows, and best practices to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing across the team
Member account reconciliation process as part of bulk transfers (i.e. matching member accounts with corresponding account balance)
Ability to manage multiple transactions/projects simultaneously
What You'll Bring:
5+ years experience managing Group Workplace Savings operations including transfers and plan registration
Experience in the operational function of Group savings and retirement accounts and their administration
Years of Accounts (or related) brokerage experience (ideally IIROC/OSC/FINTRAC regulated)
A history of designing and implementing new processes and metrics
Deep group registered account experience including documentation, reporting, and working with trustee
A clear vision for how a high performing Group savings and retirement Accounts function operates, and can build a plan to get there
Strong people skills and a positive attitude; you will be working in a highly collaborative, diverse and dynamic environment
The ability to quickly ramp up and learn about how our brokerage operates
Experience building a high performing team, providing operational support on a daily basis to navigate complex inquiries or ad hoc resolutions
Partner with the registered accounts team to meet annual regulatory requirements, including forced rollovers, and stay up to date with changes in regulatory guidance and legislation.
Strong stakeholder management skills, delivering clear and concise and updates to a wide variety of internal stakeholders, contributing towards building alignment on product direction

Deeply analytical. Are comfortable navigating large sets of data and pulling insights from it; strong experience in Excel is a must, familiarity with database querying (e.g., SQL) and Oracle is a strong asset
Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
