Senior Software Engineer II, Full Stack

Objects Platform Team

The Objects Platform team builds the core capabilities that power HubSpot’s CRM. Sitting just above HubSpot’s primary systems of record, the team acts as a thin but powerful abstraction layer that enables consistent, scalable improvements across all CRM object types. From archival and merge reverts to association enhancements, the work of this team quietly underpins product development across the entire HubSpot ecosystem.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer II, Full Stack who thrives at the intersection of systems, data, and user-facing tooling. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building robust backend capabilities and translating complex system behavior into clear, actionable internal interfaces.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build full stack solutions that surface deep system insights through internal UIs for dashboarding, metrics, monitoring, and analytics.

  • Partner with product and platform stakeholders to make complex object-level behavior observable, governable, and scalable.

  • Develop tooling and visualizations around:

    • Object and association distribution (global and portal-level)

    • Read and write volume metrics

    • Centralized rate-limit configuration and governance

    • Object-level cost of goods (COGS) and performance signals

    • Cycles, jail states, and system health visibility

  • Write and reason about data queries to power analytics, dashboards, and internal decision-making.

  • Contribute across the stack, with roughly a 50/50 front-end and back-end focus (front-end leaning is welcome).

  • Design solutions that balance immediate team needs with long-term platform scalability and reliability.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Strong experience building and delivering scalable, reliable software in a production environment.

  • Solid full stack skill set, with meaningful front-end experience and comfort working across APIs, services, and data layers.

  • Practical fluency in data analysis: you’re comfortable executing SQL queries, exploring datasets, and reasoning about metrics.

  • Ability to translate backend complexity into intuitive internal user experiences.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort operating in ambiguous, systems-heavy problem spaces.

  • Clear, thoughtful communication and a collaborative mindset.

  • A growth-oriented approach to learning, feedback, and technical leadership.

Key Expectations

  • Problem Solving & Ownership: Independently drive complex projects from concept to delivery, navigating technical trade-offs with minimal guidance.

  • Technical Excellence: Design solutions that address long-standing platform challenges while balancing short-term delivery and long-term maintainability.

  • Team Impact: Collaborate closely with your Technical Lead, Product Manager, and peers to shape technical direction, review designs, and refine priorities.

  • Mentorship & Standards: Raise the bar through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and thoughtful technical feedback.

  • Cross-System Thinking: Build reusable, scalable capabilities that benefit teams beyond your own and align with HubSpot’s broader architecture.

Growth Opportunities

As a Senior Software Engineer II, you’ll have opportunities to:

  • Expand your technical scope across platform systems, data tooling, and internal user experiences.

  • Own increasingly complex system designs and cross-team initiatives.

  • Deepen your influence as a technical leader through mentorship, documentation, and design leadership.

  • Partner closely with Product and Platform teams to shape foundational capabilities used across HubSpot.
