About This Role:

We are a pioneering digital healthcare company revolutionizing the way cardiac arrhythmias are diagnosed. Our innovative approach combines wearable biosensing technology with robust cloud-based data analytics and machine-learning capabilities. Our mission is to become the premier provider of ambulatory ECG monitoring for patients at risk for arrhythmias. Our continuous monitoring has already provided over 5 million patients and their doctors with quicker access to vital information.

As a Senior Research Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing data pipelines, infrastructure, and analysis to support clinical research studies and related analysis. This role is a unique blend of statistical expertise and data engineering skills, offering an exciting opportunity for those who thrive at the intersection of statistics and data technology. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of study data for analysis and reporting.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and databases for data collection, integration, and analysis from various sources.

  • Construct and manage AWS data infrastructure to support research pipelines and outputs (ETL, containerization, workflow automation, and scheduling).

  • Collaborate with biostatisticians, data managers, and other team members to ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy in study databases.

  • Implement data checks, data listings, and summary tables to support ongoing data review and quality control.

  • Develop and support self-service data platforms for in-house research data.

  • Create and manage data platforms enabling external partner access to our research data, considering security, anonymization, and data protection.

  • Collaborate with scientific teams to assess feasibility, complexity, and costs of research data requests.

  • Contribute to the development of statistical analysis plans (SAPs) and provide input on study design and data analysis strategies.

  • Conduct preliminary data analyses to assist the scientific team.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in iRhythm’s data.

  • Coordinate with our production data teams to align design decisions with our production systems.

  • Maintain a clean and well-documented code base and audit trail (git, Bitbucket, Confluence, JIRA).

What We Need to See

  • At least 5 years of experience designing apps and algorithms using Python.

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience building infrastructure with AWS.

  • Experience with large-scale ETL tools such as Spark and Glue.

  • Proficiency in SQL, database, and table design.

  • Familiarity with data management principles and electronic data capture (EDC) systems.

  • Strong understanding of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines (e.g., FDA, ICH, GCP) related to clinical research data.

  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix/Windows environments.

  • BA/BS in a science or technical field.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work to meet project deadlines.

Ways to Stand Out

  • MS/PhD in a science or technical field, including scientific research experience.

  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as SAS and R.

  • Experience with Docker, PySpark, Snowflake, Tableau, and/or Splunk.

  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix/Windows environments.

Location:

Remote - US

Actual compensation may vary depending on job-related factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.

Estimated Pay Range

$123,000.00 - $160,000.00
