SENIOR PHILANTHROPIC CONSULTANT / INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR ROLE

Were looking for highly motivated, inspirational Senior Philanthropic Consultantsto serve as team leaders overseeing the team (usually 1-3 people), project management, problem solving, and client engagement - across a range of issues including education, environment, health, economic opportunity, and racial equity. Senior contracted consultants work with us on a short-term contract on a project-by-project basis. Your work might include the following:

  • Engage with clients directly, managing their expectations and serving as a trusted advisor.

  • Manage the scope of work for the project - sequencing project activities, allocating time of team members, and ensuring that deliverables are of the highest quality and deadlines are met.

  • Provide guidance, work stream management, and feedback on deliverables to team members.

  • Design and facilitate highly productive and engaging client meetings.

  • Lead team meetings for brainstorming, problem-solving, translating findings into innovative and data-informed insights, and developing bold and practical recommendations.

  • Execute project activities such as leading interviews, conducting research, and developing deliverables.

  • Ensure that the team is engaged, productive, and supported.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience.

  • Passion for social change and working in the social sector.

  • Knowledge ofphilanthropy and/or the nonprofit sector.

  • Strong background in management consulting and/or project management.

  • Confidence and ability to engage with, manage, and advise senior-level clients.

  • Leadership style that empowers team members to do their best work individually and collectively within a product, engaging, and enjoyable team culture.

  • Experience applying equity and inclusion principles (e.g., disaggregating data, addressing disparities, identifying targeted strategies based on varying assets/needs, etc.).

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, a crisp and convincing writing style, and the ability to convey a point of view in a concise and structured way.

  • Experience with primary and secondary research including interviewing, surveying, gathering data, and seeking perspectives of experts and people directly impacted by a given social issue.

  • Ability to use strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to unearth insights and translate findings into clear and meaningful recommendations.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, ability to create compelling charts, graphs, and documents.
