Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae) is dedicated to bringing comprehensive genetic information into mainstream medicine to improve healthcare for billions of people! Our team is driven to make a difference for the patients we serve. We are leading the transformation of the genetics industry, by making clinical-grade genetic information affordable and accessible to guide health decisions across all stages of life.

The genomics insights team leverages clinical genomic expertise, our massive genetics and lab data, and the latest AI/ML technologies to improve diagnosis, clinical care, and treatment options. We design and develop robust, quantitative, and scalable systems for variant interpretation and disease insights.

We have an opening on our team for a Senior Lead Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role will be to lead the development of our modeling platforms, which support the rapid prototyping, scalable deployment, and evaluation of diverse evidence models. These models in turn provide key support for patient care, such as clinical interpretation of genetic testing results, directly impacting hundreds of thousands of patients every year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap for ML infrastructure within the team, aligning with other engineering teams across the organization.

  • Modernize and expand upon our end-to-end platform that enables scientists of various backgrounds to rapidly prototype, scale, validate and distribute diverse models to support patient care.

  • Enhance and improve our computational infrastructure for machine learning, focusing on performance, scalability, maintainability, and resource optimization.

  • Operationalize large-scale ML workloads, ensuring distributed trainings are robust, efficient, and fault-tolerant.

  • Design and integrate end-to-end lifecycles for distributed ML systems (from data ingestion to model integration).

  • Architect robust MLOps solutions to streamline and automate data sanitation and ingestion.

  • Drive adoption of new technologies and architectural patterns guided by evolving R&D, clinical, and regulatory requirements.

  • Mentor engineers in areas of your expertise, fostering skill growth and knowledge sharing.

  • Guide engineering culture centered on collaboration, technical excellence, and innovation.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of technical experience, including hands-on experience building scalable backend systems for training, evaluation, and deployment of machine learning models.

  • Proficiency in Python.

  • Strong expertise in distributed systems, reliability and scalability, deployment orchestration, data warehousing, containerization, and cloud platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with building REST APIs.

  • Proficient in cloud computing infrastructure and tools (for example Kubernetes, Snowflake, etc.)

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical and architectural problems, while working with partners to iteratively find solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proficient in ML training and validation frameworks, like: Tensorflow, PyTorch.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field.

Application Window will close 7/8/2025

Pay Range: $140,000-200,000 annual salary

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
