Alma is seeking a mission-driven Senior Full Stack Engineer II to join our team. We are dedicated to building tools and services which help our providers more easily manage and grow their practice. In this role, you will be building features that solve real problems for mental health providers. The ideal candidate is able to recognize that successful software development requires communication, experimentation, and iteration.
On this scaling team, you will have a strong hand in defining Alma's insurance features, services, and architecture. The ideal person for this role loves to collaborate, has a foundation in backend engineering, some exposure to frontend development, and leverages this skill set to build amazing digital experiences.
What You’ll Do:
Work in our backend space (40%) while tackling work full stack as needed to support projects with frontend-oriented goals (10%)
(20%) Plan complex multi-team projects with stakeholders and guide execution and delivery
(20%) Own the team’s technical, execution, goal setting, and prioritization practices
(5%) Mentor software engineers across the organization
(5%) Go beyond the team to impact the domain’s practices
How You’ll Do It:
Gain a deep understanding of what Alma providers do, how they operate, and where their pain points are.
Design, develop, and implement maintainable and scalable product features using front and back end web technologies (Python, Django, MySQL, React, Typescript).
Develop both provider-facing and internal-facing features around scheduling, eligibility, and billing.
Collaborate with Alma managers, PMs, and designers to conceptualize and build solutions for practical problems facing Alma providers.
Ensure applications and services meet Alma's standards for software including performance, scalability, and security.
Who You Are:
You have 6-10 years of experience as an engineer with a proven history of working across the stack, primarily backend, and building products at scale.
You enjoy collaborating with engineering and product leaders on complex multi-team projects.
You have extensive experience with web technologies. We are language agnostic in our interviews but require experience with one or more common web frameworks.
You have a strong understanding of accessibility and security compliance.
You’ve implemented automated testing platforms and unit tests.
You have a proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
You enjoy customer-centered software development and collaborating closely with a team of engineers, designers, and product managers.
You possess a desire to experiment, (succeed or fail), and use research and data, where appropriate, to make data-driven decisions.

Salary Band: $178,000 - $254,200
