As a Senior DevOps Engineer, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager for DevOps, you’ll play a pivotal role in enabling engineering teams across the organization, helping execute platform-wide initiatives to modernize and scale Olo’s infrastructure footprint. You’ll consult with a diverse group of engineering teams to understand their specific challenges and help architect practical, efficient solutions to support performance, stability, and developer velocity.
You can work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. or at Olo’s headquarters in NYC.
What You'll Do
Act as a technical leader and mentor to engineers both in-team, and across the platform group.
Handle workload autonomously, including proactively seeking feedback, and managing expectations with internal clients
Contribute to architectural discussions with technical and organizational leadership groups.
Take the lead on large/complex projects, including co-ordinating resources and communicating with internal stakeholders & team/departmental leadership.
Delegate work to team members, and act as escalation point for any issues/blockers
Partner with engineering teams on a project basis, to understand complex business problems and architect and implement solutions.
Solicit feedback from internal consumers across product and engineering teams, to understand the challenges they face, and help design platform products that meet these customer needs.
Collaborate with other Platform teams to build and continuously improve foundational platform offerings.
Proactively assess platform needs and identify areas for improvement and efficiency.
Help define, document and implement platform-wide standards and best practices.
Support security and compliance requests as directed (including patching, audit support and remediations.)
Build and maintain internal environments, services, toolsets or scripts leveraged by platform and Engineering organizations
Participate in an on-call rotation as escalation point/SME for service
What We'll Expect From You
5+ years experience in software engineering, DevOps, site reliability, or similar role
1+ years experience in a hands-on technical leadership role
Proficiency designing, building, and managing services within a mature production environment, including production-supporting pipelines and tooling
Proficiency with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECR, ECS, EKS, and Fargate, using deployment tools such as Octopus, ArgoCD, Helm, and Flux
Proficiency with cloud infrastructure such as AWS
Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible
Proficiency with code management and CI/CD toolsets, such as TeamCity, Github Actions, GitLab, Jenkins
Experience writing code in one or more modern programming languages. (C#, Java, Ruby, Python, Javascript, Powershell, Bash)
Experience with modern monitoring tools such as DataDog, SumoLogic, Prometheus, and Raygun
Experience with database technologies in a production setting, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra
Experience with data streaming technologies, such as Kafka, SNS/SQS, and Kinesis
Experience with security best practices and compliance processes such as SOX, Soc2, PCI

Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $125k-179k annually for a Senior I and $135k-195k annually for a Senior II, depending on the experience you bring and your location.
