Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer

You're a seasoned database expert and developer and are interested in taking your career to the next level while working alongside our data and engineering teams. You’ll be working in a team supporting a large database footprint. You’ll be responsible for production and development operations and play a key role in driving forward our data initiatives and strategies. 

This role is ideal for someone passionate about autonomy, real-world operational systems, and building robust, scalable data solutions in fast-paced environments. In this role, you will help lead the building and management of high-volume, real-time data services and infrastructure. Collaborating closely with data engineering and product teams, you'll be responsible for designing and maintaining reliable, efficient systems that support mission-critical operations. This is a hands-on infrastructure role with meaningful ownership and the chance to shape the data backbone of our industry leading platforms. 

As a growing financial technology company offering real estate valuation products, software platforms and rich data and analytics, you will be an instrumental part of a small yet strong database operations team supporting data and application development working with some of the brightest minds in the industry. 

What You Will Work On

  • As Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer, you will be managing large-scale data platforms, ensuring their performance, scalability, and alignment with business goals. 

  •  Supporting a large number of Redshift and PostgreSQL databases running in our hybrid cloud. Everything from RDS, Aurora, Redshift, EnterpriseDB to community edition. The entire lifecycle: new build, upgrading, and retiring. 

  • Partner with our development teams to engineer our next generation flagship products. Manage HA architectures, disaster recovery, and backup/restore processes. 

  • Repeatable builds, automation, documentation, monitoring and observability. Participate in design and application review sessions. 

  • Develop Python and shell scripts, procedures and processes for data migration and application development. 

  • Participate in meetings and conference calls related to project and troubleshooting activities.

  •  Develop strong working knowledge of key applications and their interaction with the database(s). 

Who We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years experience working in an AWS cloud environment in a similar role. 

  •  Strong experience in building and working with complex Redshift deployments. Hands on IaC (Infrastructure as Code) experience, specifically Terraform. 

  •  Deep proficiency in Python and SQL.

  • Working experience with version control systems, CI/CD practices, and partnering with development teams using modern toolsets, specifically Git, Bitbucket, GitHub, VSCode on a MacOS platform. 

  • Proven experience with observability and monitoring at scale. 

  • Firm understanding of Data Governance and contributing to those initiatives and technologies. Experience working with data engineers using cloud data warehouse technologies (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake) and orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster). 

  • Understanding of data lakehouse patterns (Iceberg, Delta Lake), vector stores, and graph databases. 

  • Capable of working and managing multiple diverse projects in an agile environment. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, computer science or related discipline preferred. 

Nice to Have

  • Experience working directly with application developers in terms of database design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. 

  • Ability to write, debug and tune SQL and PL/pgSQL, packages, procedures, functions, triggers, etc. Likes documentation and diagramming of all systems and databases. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and own complex problems to resolution. 

What You Can Expect

  • Compensation: The base salary for this position ranges from $147,000 to $183,000 annually, depending on your location, experience, and qualifications. Additional compensation offerings include company profit-sharing bonus program, communication stipends, and referral bonuses.
