Job Description:
The U.S. Forest Service (FS) seeks an individual to develop applications for the National Cruise System. The application has a geospatial component and is in active development.
Duties/ Responsibilities
Conduct architecture, engineering, and operational/administrative efforts required to build and operate Enterprise Geodatabase(s) on top of SQL Server RDBMS.
Collaborate with GIS specialists, developers, and analysts to design and implement geospatial solutions.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for geospatial database-related issues.
Design, develop, and implement geospatial databases using ESRI's suite of tools (ArcGIS, ArcSDE, etc.).
Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data manipulation and analysis.
Design and implement data models, including relational and spatial models, to support geospatial data storage and retrieval.
Use Agency-approved and specified GitHub repository to store source code, document code, release packages, and associated artifacts.
Required Skills/Abilities
At least 7 years of strong hands-on database development experience
3+ years of experience architecting, engineering, deploying, and troubleshooting ESRI Enterprise Geodatabases on top of SQL Server RDBMS.
2+ years of experience working with ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Federated Feature Services, Branch Versioning).
3+ years of experience working with ArcGIS Server including experience with ESRI Traditional Versioning.
5+ years of experience working with ESRI COTS Applications for mobile, web and desktop.
Experience configuring and Automating Geodatabase workflows with Python
Experience configuring high-availability and replication for SQL Server
Experience with agile development
Familiar with Git and GitHub (branching, merging, code review, pull request, etc.)
Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including reading comprehension
Nice to Have Skills
Familiarity with best practices in database security, including user access controls, authentication, and data encryption
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography, database engineering, software engineering, or other related field. If no degree, then 11+ years of development experience is required

Salary:
$110,000 - $125,000 The salary range offered is an estimate made in good faith, intended to encompass various experience levels.
