Senior Browser Engineer - Chromium

The role: Airtame is seeking an experienced Browser Software Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving our Chromium-based browser running on the Airtame device. Our ideal candidate is passionate about developing low-level software which runs under CPU, memory and time constraints and is comfortable with the huge codebase that drives Chromium. In this role you will have a chance to fully specialize in developing, modifying and optimising Chromium. The browser is the backbone of our software stack, so your work and contributions will have a high impact across all of our products and you will be working in close collaboration with the VP of Engineering. How we envision working together:

• If you are located somewhere in the EU timezone, we support remote work from anywhere within +/-2 hours of CET

• If you are located outside of the EU, we support Danish VISA processes for this role to initiate your relocation.

• Should you be located in Copenhagen or surroundings: we’re working hybrid with all the flexibility you need. 

• If you’re a consultant or freelancer on the search for your next mission, we’re very open to hearing from you too.

• We will start the initial review of applications and our interview process for this role during the month of April and continue until we have found the right new colleague.

Responsibilities:

• Take development ownership of our virtual device application across Android, Windows and Linux arm / x86

• Be responsible for exposing native capabilities through the development of new APIs for Javascript and exposing it to our frontend

• Continuously maintain, update and improve our Chromium implementation

• Be a close and active sparring partner to our VP of Engineering and peer browser engineers, as well as a key advisor to our frontend team in terms of future-proofed development

To be successful in this role:

• It's a prerequisite that you have experience working with open source browser projects such as Webkit or Chromium.

• Experience developing highly performant software in C or C++.

• Understanding of web technologies such as Javascript and CSS.

• Basic understanding of different operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android).

• Excellent English communication and strong problem-solving skills.

• Confidence to work autonomously and as part of a team.
