We’re looking for a strategic, analytical, and customer-obsessed Product Strategy Lead to help shape the future of our Vertically Integrated Utilities product lines at Kraken. In this role, you’ll identify and synthesize market challenges and opportunities facing utilities in North America with customer billing and distribution grid responsibilities, while collaboratively defining and refining our product vision for that key market segment.

The ideal candidate is a structured thinker who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments. You bring deep consulting or product management experience in the North American utility space, strong market analysis skills, and the ability to translate insights into clear product direction. With a sharp eye for industry trends, client needs, and emerging opportunities, you’ll be instrumental in steering the team toward high-impact outcomes that drive growth and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Market & Customer Insight

  • Conducting deep market research into North American utilities, including regulatory, competitive, and technology trends.

  • Engaging directly with customers and stakeholders to uncover pain points, validate opportunities, and bring the client voice into product strategy.

  • Analyzing industry data and market signals to identify and prioritize opportunities for product development.

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Shaping and driving the long-term strategy and product roadmap for the Vertically Integrated Utilities product team.

  • Developing clear narratives on where the market is going and how Kraken will win.

  • Translating strategic insights into clear, actionable priorities for global product and engineering teams.

  • Communication & Cross-Functional Influence

  • Communicating strategy and roadmap to stakeholders, ensuring visibility and buy-in.

  • Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and commercial teams to align on priorities and ensure strategic clarity.

  • Acting as a thought partner for leadership, providing strategic recommendations and scenario analyses.

  • Leading workshops and strategic discussions to drive alignment across teams.

What you'll have

  • 4–6+ years of experience in consulting in the North American utility industry or product management in the energy/utilities sector.

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to distill complexity into clear direction.

  • Experience with market research, business case development, and customer discovery.A track record of influencing product strategy or business transformation in utilities.

  • Comfort with ambiguity, intellectual curiosity, and a drive to seek out and act on insights.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels.

The salary range for this role in NYC ranges on average from $150,000-$190,000 (with some flexibility) depending on relevant experience, role alignment, and technical/client management expertise demonstrated throughout the interview process. While the broad salary range is listed, not all candidates will be placed at the top of the range—this will be determined by the overall fit for the position.
