THE TEAM

We’re a collaborative, highly skilled team of network engineers focused on designing and supporting the company’s global data centre infrastructure. Our mission is to build resilient, scalable, and secure networks that enable seamless business operations. Innovation is at the heart of what we do—continually developing automation solutions to improve efficiency, reduce complexity, and drive ongoing improvement across the environment.

THE JOB

We’re hiring a Principal Network Engineer to join our Network Reliability Engineering team. This is a senior role suited for someone with significant data center networking experience—particularly in VXLAN/EVPN architectures and Fortigate firewall technologies, which are key to our current and future state.

You’ll be a technical leader, instrumental in continuing our ongoing move from a traditional three-tier design to a leaf-and-spine topology built on VXLAN/EVPN. Your expertise will help guide this transformation, ensuring the network is scalable, secure, and ready to support evolving business needs.

In addition to driving architecture and design, you'll troubleshoot complex issues, lead critical initiatives, and collaborate across teams on wide-ranging projects—from infrastructure optimization to new solution delivery. You’ll also mentor more junior engineers and contribute to building a strong, knowledge-sharing culture.

We work in an Agile environment and are currently investing heavily in network automation, a key focus as we modernize and scale our global infrastructure.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Design & Build Secure Networks: Architect and implement secure, scalable network solutions) to meet evolving business needs.

  • Lead Projects: Manage and deliver complex projects, collaborating across multiple teams to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Incident Management: To be an escalation contact in the event that our Network Services team need extra assistance to resolve a challenging network issue.

  • Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentorship to more junior engineers, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.

  • Automation & Innovation: Contribute to the team’s ongoing automation solutions.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and clear network documentation to support ongoing operations and knowledge transfer.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal IT teams (cloud, server, security, etc.) to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, bringing innovative ideas to the team.

  • This position requires occasional travel and participation in an on-call rotation.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • Proven years of experience in network engineering, with a strong background in data center environments.

  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with VXLAN/EVPN.

  • Extensive experience managing and troubleshooting data center network devices.

  • Strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF).

  • Proficiency in advanced networking concepts: MLAG, VPC, STP, HA protocols.

  • Proven expertise in configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting Fortigate and Cisco ASA/Firepower firewalls.

  • Experience with network automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible, Nautobot) is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Docker, Git, Terraform) is a plus.

  • Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE) are desirable but not mandatory if supported by strong experience.

YOU (BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS)

  • Team-oriented, fostering unity and collaboration.

  • Accountable, with a strong sense of ownership and integrity.

  • Innovative thinker who approaches problems creatively and strategically.

  • Proactive in identifying potential issues and opportunities for improvement.

  • Strong communicator, capable of sharing knowledge and building consensus.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Active listener who ensures clear understanding of instructions and feedback.

  • Adaptable and supportive team member, both locally and remotely.

  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and respectful in all interactions.
