Engineering Manager II, Storage Foundations
The Storage foundations team owns some of the most critical infrastructure systems at Pinterest such as MySQL and TiDB, empowering hundreds of business critical applications across Engineering and Product, including core services, third party ads, merchant catalogs, ads indexing and many more. As the manager of this team, you will have the opportunity to work with a high-performing team and many cross functional partners to modernize our online storage tech stack with cutting edge technologies. Your work will make a profound impact on the continued success of Pinterest as a thriving business with a huge growth potential.
What you’ll do:
Lead a team of 10+ engineers to build reliable, performant and efficient database systems that empower hundreds of business critical applications across the entire company.
Lead a cross-functional strategic initiative of TiDB adoption at Pinterest to modernize the online storage tech stack.
Lead the team to design and build the next generation MySQL architecture at Pinterest with improved reliability, scalability, dev velocity and infra cost efficiency.
Help shape Pinterest’s strategy on disaster recovery, multi region deployment and AZ failure tolerance.
Drive the team vision and strategy for the next 3 years and beyond.
Help create a diverse and inclusive team culture that makes all feel welcome while encouraging critical thinking and candid feedback.
What we’re looking for:
2+ years of experience in engineering management and 5+ years as an IC working with large scale distributed systems.
Strong technical background in distributed systems and storage systems, with hands-on experience building and operating highly available, reliable, production grade systems at scale.
Experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management.
Experience coding in one of the following languages: Java, Python, C/C++ and/or Go.
