Lead UX Designer
This position will be remote in the United States or hybrid in our American Fork, UT office 2-3 days per week. Job Summary We are looking for a Lead UX Designer to co-lead and set the design direction for our flagship Practice Management System, Dentrix Ascend. You are a seasoned product designer with a strong track record of shaping complex B2B platforms, driving clarity in ambiguous problem spaces, and delivering cohesive, high-impact user experiences at scale. You bring deep empathy for customers, strong systems thinking, and the ability to translate complex workflows and technical constraints into intuitive, elegant solutions. While you are still energized by hands-on design work, you also operate comfortably at a strategic levelguiding design decisions, influencing product direction, and mentoring designers across teams. This is a highly collaborative leadership role that partners closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders. You will help define what great looks like for UX on Dentrix Ascend, champion user-centered design throughout the organization, and elevate the overall maturity of our design practice. Provide design leadership and co-ownership of UX strategy and execution for a large-scale, complex B2B SaaS platform
Champion user-centered design by deeply understanding customer needs, workflows, pain points, and behaviors through qualitative research, interviews, and usability testing
Lead the end-to-end design process, from problem framing and concept exploration through prototyping, high-fidelity UI, and detailed design specifications
Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineering leads to shape product strategy, prioritize opportunities, and deliver solutions that balance user value, business goals, and technical constraints
Drive alignment across teams by clearly communicating design rationale, tradeoffs, and vision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Identify research needs within the product roadmap and ensure insights are synthesized into actionable design direction
Facilitate design thinking workshops, critiques, and retrospectives to foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
Contribute to and evolve design systems, interaction patterns, and standards to ensure consistency, scalability, and quality across the product
Mentor and coach designers on the team and cross-functional teams, providing feedback, guidance, and support to help them grow in craft, confidence, and impact
Travel/Physical Demands

Qualifications What You Will Have
8-10 years of experience designing and delivering high-quality B2B or enterprise software products, with increasing levels of ownership and influence
Demonstrated expertise across the full design lifecycle, from discovery and research through ideation, prototyping, testing, and iteration
A proven ability to design and scale end-to-end user experiences within complex systems and workflows
Excellent product thinking skills, with the ability to balance user needs, business objectives, and technical realities
A customer-first mindset and a passion for engaging directly with users to validate assumptions and drive meaningful outcomes
Experience operating as a design leadersetting direction, influencing stakeholders, and raising the bar for design quality
A collaborative approach and extensive experience working closely with Product Management and Engineering partners
Solid understanding of web and native application design, with working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
Proficiency in Figma and FigJam
Hands-on experience building and maintaining design systems, style guides, and reusable component libraries
Nice to Haves
Bachelors Degree in Design or Human Factors
Experience in the medical or dental industry, bringing valuable industry insights to the table
The posted range for this position is$120,000 - $175,000which is the expected starting salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. This position is eligible for a bonus target not reflected in the range.
