Lead Software Engineer - Backend
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer, Backend to design, build, and scale the foundational systems that power FuturHealth’s digital platform. As a hands-on technical leader, you’ll architect secure, performant, and reliable backend services, mentor engineers, and drive engineering excellence across a growing team.

What You’ll Do
Lead the design and development of scalable APIs, services, and backend systems.
Ensure security, reliability, and performance across core infrastructure.
Collaborate with Product, Data, and Frontend teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Champion engineering best practices, CI/CD, observability, and testing standards.
Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and influence technical direction across projects.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HiTrust, and other security/privacy standards in backend systems.
About You
Experience:
6+ years of backend engineering experience, with 2+ in a technical leadership or staff-level role.
Proven experience building and operating scalable, production-grade backend systems.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in Node.js and/or Python; TypeScript experience a plus.
Deep knowledge of RESTful API design, authentication, and system integrations.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), databases (PostgreSQL), caching (Redis), and CI/CD tooling.
Familiarity with infrastructure as code, containerization (Docker), and modern DevOps practices.
Mindset & Communication:
Hands-on problem solver with strong debugging and performance tuning skills.
Clear communicator who collaborates well across disciplines.
Comfortable in ambiguity and able to balance short-term shipping with long-term quality.
Nice to Have
Experience in healthtech or with HIPAA/HiTrust environments.
Background in microservices architecture or event-driven systems.
Familiarity with observability tools (Datadog, Sentry) and serverless patterns.
The pay range for this role is $185,000 - 230,000. We offer a competitive salary package and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
