This role will focus on our LegalWorks solution which helps automate key areas of legal processes: intake, triage and resolution. LegalWorks leverages the Tonkean platform to provide AI-powered custom portals for legal teams, intelligent request and contract routing, matter management, policy approvals and more.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Customer Discovery & Solution Design Expert for LegalWorks

The Implementation Architect is a process design expert responsible for deeply understanding our customers’ legal processes, operational pain points, and desired outcomes. This role is initially focused on discovery and design, translating complex legal business challenges into high-impact designs using Tonkean. You will also serve as ongoing support and mentoring to the Implementation Engineer role, ensuring that your design is being delivered. While you will not be highly involved in technical configuration or building on the Tonkean platform, you will need to understand the platform's power, capabilities, and architecture. 

This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in enterprise legal operations, legal tech consulting, or process improvement in large organizations. 

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Lead deep discovery sessions with legal stakeholders to understand current processes, challenges and pain points, and strategic goals leading to documenting what success looks like.

  • Conduct legal process mapping and pain point analysis to uncover opportunities to automate routine tasks (NDA creation, legal review triage) and streamline complex matter lifecycles.

  • Translate findings into high-level Tonkean solution designs — clearly defining scope, functional requirements, and user journeys into Product Requirements Documents.

  • Break down PRDs into actionable requirements that can be jointly sorted into MVP and future phase delivery.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to customer Legal Operations, General Counsel and team leaders, communicating the value of new process experiences and ensuring strong stakeholder alignment.

  • Partner closely with Implementation Engineers to hand off design documentation for execution, vet their estimates and serve as a mentor along the journey of development and testing the solution.

  • Define success metrics and KPIs relevant to legal operations to measure the impact of designed solutions.

  • Contribute to evolving Tonkean’s discovery and design methodology and templates for the LegalWorks solution as the team scales.

ABOUT YOU

  • 5+ years working directly with enterprise legal teams (Fortune 500 a plus) in a legal operations, consulting, solutions architecture, or process improvement capacity.

  • Experience running workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather complex legal business requirements.

  • Proven ability to create Process Requirements Documents, process flow diagrams, future-state workflows, and solution designs.

  • Experience in delivering and vetting estimates per delivery task that encompasses the work and testing without gold-plating.

  • Comfortable advising Senior Director, VP, General Counsel and CLO stakeholders within a corporate legal department.

  • Ability to tease out nuanced workflow/automation requirements from the customer by asking the right questions, reading between the lines to find their actual pain points, then solution the answer.

  • Possess a deep understanding of enterprise legal tech stacks and transformation best practices.

  • A builder mindset and ability to navigate ambiguity.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills; ability to align cross-functional teams on vision and outcomes.

  • Bachelor’s degree (technical degree a plus).
