The Role: 

As we grow our organization, we're seeking for an accomplished senior leader to oversee and elevate our end‑to‑end payments function. You will be responsible for a high‑scale operation that supports hundreds of thousands of monthly transactions and services more than one million active accounts, anchored by a $1.5B+ annual card‑acquiring portfolio.

Within your first six months, you will align and structure the organization, deliver measurable operational improvements, and develop a comprehensive 24‑month strategic roadmap that defines required investments, capabilities, and organizational design. You will also establish the reporting frameworks, governance structures, and matrixed operating model necessary to execute the strategy and ensure long‑term scalability and performance.

Requirements

What You’ll Own:

  • Lead strategies to optimize acceptance, performance, and efficiency across Sunbit’s $1.5B annual acquiring portfolio.

  • Chair the cross‑functional Payments Team, partnering closely with operations, product, engineering, data science, analytics, and finance.

  • Lead strategic relationships with key suppliers and with Visa, Mastercard, issuer partners, and merchant teams.

  • Own and deliver against payment processing cost‑ratio targets.

  • Define and execute end-to-end payments acceptance strategy with a focus on optimizing payment performance, reducing processing costs, and maximizing payment accessibility.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert driving research, evaluation, and development of new payment technologies and capabilities, including: gateway and processor strategy; data and alternative payment strategies (e.g., bank aggregators, cash‑flow algorithms), scoping and developing closed‑loop or hybrid solutions for cobranded card programs, oversight of payment dispute management

  • Demonstrated excellence in payments acceptance, with a proven track record of implementing and optimizing innovative consumer payment types

  • Proven ability to pioneer and execute acceptance roadmaps for strategic alternative payment methods, aligning innovation with customer experience and business growth

  • Extensive experience negotiating and managing complex payments contracts with major card networks and processors

  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute acceptance roadmaps for strategic alternative payment methods, including pay-by-bank models and ACH-based payment flows.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with payment processors and platforms such as Checkout.com, Fiserv, CyberSource, Stripe, Adyen, Plaid, and MX, including ACH batch management.

  • Experience with first- or third-party disputes and chargeback management processes.
