General Counsel
We are seeking a General Counsel who will serve as the company’s chief legal advisor, providing legal advice on a variety of matters including federal and state healthcare regulatory matters, licensure, corporate finance, employment, intellectual property, state and federal litigation and appellate matters, contracting, including contracting negotiations, and will draft or review key documents, present clear recommendations, and assure legal compliance
Role Overview
As General Counsel, you will oversee all legal and regulatory affairs of the company. This includes managing risk, guiding corporate governance, supporting fundraising and strategic partnerships, and advising the executive team on legal implications of business decisions. You will also design and implement scalable legal frameworks and policies to support our rapid growth in a highly regulated space.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate & Governance: Partner with the board of directors, applicable stakeholders, and outside counsel, as appropriate, on corporate governance matters, board relations, and entity management. Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Provide legal interpretation and guidance on telehealth, HIPAA, FDA, FTC, state healthcare regulations, and emerging data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Monitor state and federal legislation and regulations, and keep leadership apprised of new legislation or regulations which might impact the business in any way. Oversee government relations including maintaining relationships with outside firms and working to influence legislative and regulatory policies to positively impact healthcare as well as FuturHealth’s interests.
Contracts & Transactions: Define and manage the contract management and tracking system; establish guidelines/checklists for individuals reviewing routine contracts; draft, review and assist in negotiating selected contracts, including vendor contracts, SaaS agreements, marketing partnerships, and payer/provider agreements. Support fundraising, M&A, and strategic partnerships.
Risk Management: Proactively identify legal and compliance risks, develop mitigation strategies, and establish policies and controls that balance legal requirements with business goals.
Employment & HR Matters: Advise on employment law, compensation plans, employee policies, and dispute resolution. Partner with the People & Talent team to support policy development compliant with federal labor and benefit requirements and other employment matters.
Cross-Functional Advising: Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team and department heads on business strategy, product design, consumer engagement, and international expansion considerations. Develop and lead corporate legal strategy to promote and protect FuturHealth.
External Counsel Management: Oversee relationships with outside counsel to ensure effective, efficient, and budget-conscious use of resources.
Litigation & Disputes: Manage pre-litigation disputes and, if necessary, oversee litigation strategy and execution.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.
Member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar.
Experience:
8–12+ years of legal practice, with significant experience in healthcare, healthtech, or other regulated industries.
Proven background advising early-stage or high-growth companies.
Demonstrated experience with corporate governance, healthcare regulations, commercial contracts, and data/privacy compliance.
Strong track record of balancing legal rigor with business pragmatism.
Multi-state experience.
Skills:
Excellent judgment with the ability to make decisions in fast-moving, ambiguous situations.
Strong communicator able to translate complex legal issues into practical business advice.
Effective leader who can build trust across executives, employees, regulators, and external partners.
Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a high-growth environment.
Bonus / Preferred:
Experience with fundraising and M&A transactions.
Familiarity with insurance and pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) regulatory environments.
Prior in-house counsel experience at a healthtech or consumer-facing technology company.
The pay range for this role is $275,000- $362,000. We offer a competitive salary package and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
