Financial Controller

We are actively seeking our next Financial Controller, a joyful, highly skilled finance leader who will oversee complex financial operations for multiple clients, guide strategic decision-making, and elevate the quality and consistency of our service delivery to our clients.
This position is available for US-based individuals seeking full-time work (40 hours a week), allowing you to balance other important parts of your life with an exciting, fulfilling career. So what are we looking for in an ideal candidate?
Extensive multi-client cloud finance leadership. Youve remotely managed a portfolio of clients with sophisticated financial needs across various industries. You bring 7+ years of accounting and finance experience, including leading month-end close processes, implementing internal controls, preparing audit-ready financials, and guiding clients through complex financial environments.
High-level financial reporting & analysis expertise. You prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and deliver clear, actionable insights. Youre fluent in GAAP, lease accounting, and revenue recognition, and know how to communicate financial data in a way that empowers client decision-making.
Strong operational accounting oversight. You have deep experience managing or coordinating bookkeeping, AP/AR, general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and revenue recognition. You know how to build, lead, and improve consistent, scalable accounting processes across clients and teams. Youve also worked closely with auditors, tax teams, and compliance partners, maintaining thorough documentation and strong internal controls year-round.
Higher-education accounting degree. CPA firm or public accounting experience strongly preferred.
Excellent communication skills across digital channels and the ability to foster relationships not only with business owners but also with clients internal finance staff and external audit/tax professionals.
Attention to detail and quality. You consistently deliver accuracy and expect the same from those you lead.
Resourcefulness and problem-solving skills. You know when to dig in and when to seek collaboration.
Humility and openness to coaching. Always seeking to improve, and able to receive and give constructive feedback.

What does the day to day look like for this role?
Serve as the outsourced controller for multiple clients.
You act as the primary client contact, building relationships with business owners, internal finance teams, and external audit/tax partners. You communicate clearly, manage expectations, and advise with confidence.
You oversee accounting operations and ensure accuracy across the GL, AP/AR, and reconciliations. You prepare and review financial statements, lead the monthly close, and perform variance analysis.
You lead Account Managers, delegating complex tasks, reviewing work, and coaching with clarity and empathy. You train others in advanced accounting practices that can be applied across client portfolios.
You own process improvement and software integration, evaluating, recommending, and implementing new systems. You often step into client-specific software thats new to our team and design workflows to integrate it seamlessly.
You continuously look for ways to enhance quality, efficiency, and scalabilityboth for your clients and across the firm.

Strong compensation. This exempt position offers a base salary range of $140,000-$160,000 and includes a quarterly bonus structure based upon a percentage of client profit generated by your book of business.

Like most accounting roles, it's common for weekly hours to fluctuate slightly (+/- 3-5 hours) due to varying client demands from week to week.
