Job Description

Mariana Tek by Xplor builds innovative and intuitive solutions that enable boutique fitness studio owners to connect their clients with amazing fitness experiences. Pilates. Yoga. Bootcamp. Barre — you name it. We offer the services they need, so they can focus on what really matters — helping their members and clients succeed. We take all the complexities of running a studio and make it easy to use, brand-centric, and fitness-focused.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Studio team creating the best in-studio and studio management experiences in the industry. You are someone who loves to build, lead, and mentor development teams in a face-paced environment. We're growing quickly and have a lot of impactful features to deliver.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a cross-functional team of software engineers. You will own the Mariana Tek Admin application, the studio-facing software that runs day-to-day operations and point of sale, and be responsible for delivering strategic product and technical initiatives to grow the business. In this role, you will be accountable for ensuring consistent delivery and help steer the technology stack and engineering processes to be as efficient as possible. You will be accountable for growing the engineers on your team and helping them progress along their career path.

The Studio team is fully remote and primarily based in North America, but will sometimes work with contractors in EU or other time zones.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and manage an engineering team working on the Mariana Tek Admin product to deliver rapid product iterations.

  • Ensure team members have clear career goals, and use them to build a career development plan.

  • Work with team members to ensure the team is meeting or exceeding performance expectations.

  • Utilize KPIs like cycle time, deployment frequency, and change failure rate as data points to help the team improve.

  • Celebrate the team’s accomplishments. Work not only as a mentor but as the primary advocate for your team.

  • Work with team leads, architects, and security across engineering to help define, advocate, and achieve the overall technical vision of the Mariana Tek product.

  • Work closely with cross functional stakeholders to develop the product roadmap.

  • Actively participate in planning to ensure the team understands and buys into the business goals they are working towards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience building web applications. Bonus points for experience building SaaS platforms or point of sale systems. Extra bonus points if you’ve worked on ecommerce or fitness products.

  • 2+ years (most recently) leading/managing software development teams.

  • Experience with agile software development methodologies and iterative development.

  • Experience working with stakeholders to create and execute quarterly product roadmaps.

  • Able to manage, mentor, and lead software engineers of various levels of experience.

  • Able to create a culture that fosters high performing teams with a focus on developing their talents and passions.

  • Experience in delivering scalable, maintainable, extensible, and performant software.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and kindly with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Our tech stack includes Python, Django, Node.js, Ember.js, React, PostgreSQL and more.
