As an Engineering Manager focused on the Payments domain within the Commerce organization, you’ll lead a new team responsible for one of Dropbox’s most critical business areas—ensuring we reliably capture revenue and optimize payment processing at scale. You will play a crucial role in building and leading a cross-functional team from the ground up, focused on driving improvements in payment success rates, reducing processing costs, and enabling future monetization strategies. You’ll be responsible for end-to-end ownership: from technical execution and operational excellence to team building and cross-functional alignment.

This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to senior leaders across Product, Engineering, and Finance. You’ll help shape the long-term architecture and reliability of our payments platform while building a team culture rooted in ownership, resilience, and trust. You’ll get the opportunity to lead a new team in a fully virtual, globally distributed company—starting with a core presence in Poland—while collaborating closely with the current team based in North America who own this domain.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a new Payments engineering team with full ownership of a mission-critical business domain

  • Guide the technical execution and architectural direction of our Payments systems, ensuring long-term scalability, quality, and resilience

  • Drive results by identifying high-leverage opportunities that reduce payment failure rates and operational costs

  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Management, Data Science, Finance, and adjacent engineering teams to align technical outcomes with business goals

  • Mentor and grow engineers through coaching, feedback, and career development

  • Foster a strong team culture rooted in collaboration, inclusion, and accountability

  • Champion operational excellence and ensure the team meets high standards for quality, reliability, and performance

Requirements

  • Experience or willingness to work on full stack Python / Go / TypeScript web platform development

  • Minimum of 10 years of industry software engineering experience, including 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams as an Engineering Manager

  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams responsible for high-reliability, high-availability systems

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in billing, payments, or e-commerce platforms

  • Experience building and leading teams in distributed or remote-first environments

  • Familiarity with global payment processing platforms, providers, or regulations

Compensation

Dropbox applies increased tax deductible costs to remuneration earned by certain qualifying employees (to the extent an employee will be involved in the creation of the software as an “author”) for the transfer of copyrights, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Personal Income Tax Act.

Poland Pay Range

314 500 zł—425 500 zł PLN
