The Personalization team makes deciding what to play next on Spotify easier and more enjoyable for every listener. We seek to understand the world of music and podcasts better than anyone else so that we can make great recommendations to every individual person and keep the world listening. Every day, hundreds of millions of people all over the world use the products we build which include destinations like “Home” and “Search” as well as original playlists such as “Discover Weekly” and “Daily Mix.” We’re a team of technologists, product insight specialists, designers, and product managers in Boston, New York, Stockholm, and London.

We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team working on multi-objective, multi-stakeholder recommendations in Spotify playlists. We support multiple services and sets, accessed by half a billion Spotify listeners, with tight scalability and latency guarantees. As an Engineering Manager at Spotify, your primary responsibility is to the people you support. You will ensure that they are growing as engineers, delivering healthy technology, and generally having a great time at Spotify. A proven technology background is key, so that you’re able to challenge your team members to be their best. You will have the opportunity to influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of engineers through coaching, mentoring, feedback and hands-on career development.

  • Support timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needs.

  • Advocate and advance modern, agile engineering practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.

  • Reinforce a healthy, collaborative engineering culture.

  • Grow the technical expertise of your team.

  • Facilitate collaboration with other engineers, product managers, and designers to solve challenging problems that affect all Spotifiers.

Who You Are

  • You love developing and growing people and have experience in leading, coaching, or mentoring individuals and teams.

  • You’re passionate about software engineering best practices and love to have an impact on large-scale tech problems.

  • You have proven experience working in an agile development environment with complicated and ambitious business requirements.

  • You strive to build capabilities that deliver a great, safe and trusted experience, to our internal customers and to Spotify users across the world.

  • Experience leading software engineering teams or projects (e.g., mentoring junior engineers, setting technical direction, etc.).

  • Experience with the design of software systems

  • Experience working towards strategic goals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Where You'll Be

  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the North Americas region as long as we have a work location.

  • This team operates within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration.

The United States base range for this position is $ 164,448 - $ 234,926, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, a monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays. These ranges may be modified in the future.
