Engineering Manager - Compute Controlplane and Capacity

Netflix has been changing how people watch shows and movies, enabling on-demand access to thousands of movies and TV shows. Recently, Netflix has expanded its entertainment offering to include Live content, like the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson match, the NFL Christmas Games, Beyonce's halftime show, the SAG Awards ceremony, and more. Bringing stories in real time to so many viewers around the world is a hard challenge, demanding exceptional levels of scaling, reliability, stability, and operational excellence across our Cloud Platform stack.

We are looking for an experienced leader with a passion for tackling the complex challenges to drive core components of Netflix’s Cloud Compute Infrastructure. The Compute Controlplane and Capacity owns the services that are essential to ensuring there is always capacity be it EC2 instances or Containers to meet every Netflix need, including things like serving the largest internet Live stream in history. In addition, your team will drive improved scheduling strategies for Container and Instance placement pulling on latest industry research and driving ever greater efficiencies from Netflix Cloud Infrastructure. 

You would lead and grow a team of amazing engineers to evolve and implement a cohesive Compute strategy that is critical for our growing business lines while partnering with multiple teams across Netflix.

What You will do

  • Own Netflix’s Compute Controlplane launching millions of containers on our Titus multi-tenant container platform evolving its performance, efficiency and reach. 

  • Drive evolution of the systems and tooling used to manage hundreds of millions of dollars annually of Compute capacity at Netflix. 

  • Build, scale, and mentor a cohesive team of amazing engineers.

  • Drive engineering excellence and set a high bar for operational rigor within the team.

  • Form strong cross-functional partnerships to achieve alignment with many engineering teams, ensuring our solutions meet their needs while maintaining our focus on scalability, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Balance competing priorities across multiple cross-functional stakeholders and programs.

  • Drive large initiatives to completion in tandem with partner and peer organizations.

  • Perseverance and the ability to balance competing priorities across multiple cross-functional stakeholders and programs.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $190,000 - $920,000.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
