Join the team as Twilio’s next Director, Product Marketing.
About the job
This position is needed to support Twilio's Messaging and Email businesses, two of our most established and highest-impact product lines serving customers who depend on reliable, scalable communications infrastructure to reach billions of people globally.
As Director of Product Marketing, you'll lead a team of PMMs to define how we tell the story of trusted digital interactions in a rapidly evolving market. Twilio envisions a world in which every digital interaction is amazing, and our Messaging and Email platforms are foundational to delivering on that vision – enabling both self-service and enterprise customers to build any experience without the complexity.
This role requires someone who can look beyond their immediate domain to connect narratives across Twilio's platform, identify emerging market opportunities, and translate complex technical capabilities into compelling positioning that resonates with developers, product leaders, and C-suite buyers. You'll be a key strategic partner to R&D and Marketing leadership, influencing not just what we build, but how the market understands its value.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Lead a high-performing team of product marketing managers across Messaging and Email, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and growth. Provide career coaching and create pathways for your team's advancement.
Shape and own the narrative for Twilio's Messaging and Email businesses—building positioning frameworks that connect product innovation to market trends, customer needs, and business outcomes. Your storytelling will influence sales conversations, analyst briefings, customer presentations, and executive communications.
Partner deeply with R&D leadership to influence roadmap prioritization, align on positioning early in the product development cycle, and establish repeatable rituals for customer validation and market storytelling.
Drive integrated go-to-market programs across self-service and enterprise segments, partnering with Corporate Communications (AR, PR, social), Campaigns, and GTM Enablement to amplify the messaging narrative, generate demand, and drive product adoption at scale.
Drive meaningful product launches through Twilio's PDLC—ensuring releases are positioned strategically, supported with customer proof points, and integrated into broader go-to-market motions.
Look across the business to identify where Messaging and Email intersect with broader platform capabilities and build compelling narratives that elevate how customers understand the full power of Twilio's communications infrastructure.
Qualifications
Twilio values diverse experiences from all kinds of industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!
*Required:
8+ years of experience in product marketing or technical marketing, with a strong track record in communications infrastructure, messaging platforms, developer tools, SaaS platforms, or enterprise software
3+ years of experience managing teams. You've built high-performing teams and developed talent that has gone on to take larger roles.
You are a strategic thinker and naturally look across teams, products, and functions to identify connections and opportunities others miss. You see the forest, not just the trees.
You’re an exceptional storyteller and narrative builder. You don't just describe features—you craft narratives that connect product capabilities to business outcomes, market shifts, and customer transformation. You can make the complex compelling.
You have a proven ability to drive alignment and influence across R&D, AR, PR, Campaigns, Sales, and executive teams—even in ambiguous or high-stakes situations.
You know how to enable and educate internal audiences to drive meaningful and actionable content.
You can get things done. We want to talk about how you manage projects.
You have a track record of meaningful impact. You've launched products, shaped positioning, or built programs that directly contributed to revenue growth, market perception, or competitive wins.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Desired:
Experience with established, high-revenue product lines—you understand the unique challenges of maintaining growth and innovation in mature markets.
Background in messaging, email, or communications infrastructure, or adjacent areas like CPaaS, marketing automation platforms, or developer-focused communications APIs.

Experience working in fast-growth technology companies where you've scaled teams, processes, or narratives alongside the business.
Strong writing and presentation skills—you're a stickler for clear, precise language and know how to craft a story that lands with any audience.
