Position Overview

Data Scientist

To support the development of innovative AI/ML solutions that drive business value across multiple departments at LabCorp. The Data Scientist contributes to exploratory data analysis, helps develop and implement machine learning models, and works with team members to deliver data-driven solutions. This role requires technical proficiency and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to data science projects throughout the development lifecycle

  • Implement and validate machine learning models that solve business problems

  • Analyze datasets to identify patterns and insights

  • Assist in translating technical concepts for presentation to stakeholders

  • Apply appropriate machine learning techniques to address business needs

  • Create effective data visualizations to communicate findings

  • Stay current with advancements in AI/ML

  • Collaborate with other team members on solution development

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

  • Regularly works with a computer for approximately 6-8 hours a day

  • Must be able to read and understand scientific and complex directions

Minimum Education & Previous Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant data science experience, or Master's degree with 0-1 years of experience

  • 2+ years of experience with Python programming

  • Experience contributing to data science or analytics projects

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of machine learning techniques including classification, regression, and basic deep learning approaches

  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis and data preprocessing methods

  • Ability to work with structured data and common data formats

  • Problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn

  • Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members

  • Attention to detail and commitment to data quality

  • Ability to follow best practices in model development and implementation

Technologies and Tools

  • Required: Python, SQL, basic data visualization skills

  • Desirable: Familiarity with AWS services

  • Relevant Packages: Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, basic knowledge of TensorFlow/PyTorch, Matplotlib/Seaborn/Plotly

  • Previous and/or active Labcorp Internship required

pay range: 115,000-130,000
