The Opportunity

“We are seeking an experienced Community Development Manager to lead and grow our thriving developer community.  This role will be critical to shaping the future growth and expansion of our developer ecosystem.  This position combines strategic community building with hands-on engagement to foster meaningful relationships between developers, drive product adoption, and create valuable experiences that support our community members' success.”  – Sr Director, Demand Generation

What You'll Contribute

  • Build and implement growth strategies that drive developer engagement, community membership, and platform adoption through targeted initiatives and outreach programs.

  • Track and analyze engagement metrics to measure community health, identify expansion opportunities, and optimize programs based on performance data.

  • Develop community roadmaps that align developer initiatives with product launches and business priorities while supporting sustainable growth.

  • Partner with product, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure developer insights and community feedback directly influence product decisions and roadmap planning.

  • Execute developer programs including technical events, hackathons, workshops, and webinars that showcase platform capabilities and build developer skills.

  • Oversee community platforms to foster productive discussions, moderate content, and maintain environments that encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing.

  • Produce content such as tutorials, implementation guides, best practices, and developer resources that accelerate onboarding and adoption.

  • Serve as primary developer advocate, providing technical guidance to community members while representing their needs and feedback in internal strategic discussions.

  • Recruit and mentor community champions and active contributors who can amplify reach and provide peer-to-peer support to other developers.

  • Develop and present quarterly community strategies to executive stakeholders, including competitive analysis, growth projections, resource requirements, and ROI justification for community investments

  • Navigate competing priorities across business units, translating community insights into actionable recommendations for product roadmaps, sales strategies, and customer success initiatives while maintaining developer-first advocacy

  • Coordinate feedback collection and feature request processes, working with product teams to prioritize improvements and communicate updates to the community.

What We're Seeking

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in community management, developer relations, or customer-facing technical roles within software technology, B2B, or fintech environments with demonstrated impact on community growth and engagement (eg. community growth rates, engagement scores, developer retention, event attendance, content engagement, and contribution to product adoption/revenue).

  • Experience managing cross-functional programs, or complex developer community initiatives with measurable outcomes in engagement, growth, or adoption metrics.

  • Proven experience in event management and community operations with expertise in strategic developer engagement initiatives, platform editorial calendar management, and creating technical content that drives user adoption and community growth.

  • Demonstrated ability to both architect comprehensive community strategies and execute hands-on tactical initiatives, with examples of personally driving programs from concept to measurable results while managing strategic oversight

  • Strong background in cross-functional collaboration with product, sales, customer success, and product marketing teams to design and execute comprehensive developer training programs and optimize user onboarding experiences.

  • Technical aptitude with comprehensive understanding of software development lifecycle and hands-on familiarity with developer tools, API ecosystems, SDK implementations, and technical documentation creation.

  • Proficient with community management platforms (Discord, Slack, Discourse), analytics tools (Mixpanel, Google Analytics), and engagement measurement systems.

  • Knowledge of programming fundamentals in one or more languages (Python, JavaScript, Go, etc.) with confidence participating in technical discussions.

  • Familiarity with developer workflow tools including GitHub, Stack Overflow, GitLab, JIRA, and collaborative development environments.

  • Track record of success building, scaling, and nurturing developer or technical communities from inception to maturity with quantifiable growth metrics.

  • Active participation in open-source ecosystems with understanding of contribution workflows, maintainer dynamics, and community governance models.

  • Proven success/ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, including experience influencing without authority across product, engineering, sales, customer success, and executive teams to align community initiatives with broader business objectives.

  • Exceptional communication abilities in translating complex technical concepts into accessible content for diverse audiences and stakeholders.

  • Analytics-driven mindset with experience designing KPI frameworks, measuring metrics, and using data insights to optimize engagement strategies.
