Chief of Staff
Why this role?
Warp is a fast growing startup, and as we grow the complexity of running the business has increased. We have operational needs around finance, legal, IT, people, talent and more that we are seeking an experienced operator to oversee.
In addition to operational needs, there are also business opportunities we are leaving on the table – everything from partnerships to business development to pricing & packaging, and more. We want a strategic, analytical generalist who can help the business succeed wherever our current needs are greatest.
The person in this role will be joining the executive team, reporting directly to the founder and CEO.
As our Chief of Staff, you will…
Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership, providing strategic insights, recommendations, and solutions to support effective decision-making
Manage nascent functions of the business as we scale, with potential tours of duty across finance, legal, IT, people and talent – you will be responsible for making sure that as Warp scales we set up the right systems for long term success while being pragmatic about what we need right now
Help hire and possibly manage functional ops leaders as the business grows, e.g. helping hire leaders and teams in legal, finance, IT, people, and talent
Help manage the company’s operating rhythm, leading the structured cadence of key processes, meetings, activities and offsites
Lead high-impact, cross-functional projects – for example, exploring partnerships, working on pricing and packaging with the product team, and generally applying high business acumen to whatever the company’s biggest business challenges are
Be a close partner to the CEO on key initiatives like fundraising, BOD meetings, etc
You may be a good fit if…
5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role (e.g., Chief of Staff, Director or VP of Strategy, Director or VP of Operations) within a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Experience working closely with CEO and executive leadership teams. Ability to build trust and influence at all levels of the organization
Strong bias to action and resonance with Warp’s company operating principles and values: see https://warpdev.notion.site/
Strong background in project management, process optimization, and results-driven execution
You spike on general business thinking – this is a generalist role and we specifically are not hiring for a vertical leader in HR, finance, People, etc at our stage
Founder experience is strongly preferred – you get the challenges of scaling companies and enjoy tackling whatever our current problem is, while still keeping an eye on achieving our long-term vision and mission
Software development experience is a plus, but not required. The best fit for this role is someone who can learn our space quickly.
At Warp, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway! Most of us are learning new skills for the first time (like our engineers learning to program Warp in Rust). You might be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
Salary Transparency
Total compensation at Warp consists of two parts: 1) a competitive base salary, and 2) meaningful equity.
When we find the right person, we try to put our best foot forward with an offer that excites you. The budgeted compensation range for this role is targeted at $240,000 – $270,000. Final total compensation depends on experience and expertise.
All employees receive meaningful equity in the company, offering significant upside potential. We’re happy to walk you through different valuation scenarios at the offer stage.
