Backend Engineer

We're looking for a software engineer to join our team. This is a remote role that primarily involves backend development and product engineering, with optional frontend responsibilities. We're open to hiring from a broad range of experience levels (on parity with L3 to L6 at a large tech firm). You'll have an outsized impact on the company's trajectory.

Responsibilities
Working with engineers and product team to develop web backend and APIs for our core products.
Working with engineers and product team to ideate, design, and implement product features and improvements.
Maintaining existing web and data applications.
Improving performance and developer experience of our web APIs.
Improving engineering workflows, e.g., testing, release, deployment, QA, and documentation.
Requirements
Proficiency in modern Python.
3+ years of work experience designing, implementing, and/or integrating web APIs (REST, GraphQL, RPC).
Nice-to-haves
Prior work experience at a high-growth tech startup or electronic trading firm.
Experience with financial data (market data feeds, time series, security references, machine-readable news) or analytics.
Experience working within a Linux environment.
Exposure to lower-level languages, such as C, C++, or Rust.
Experience with containerized application deployment (Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes).
Experience with release engineering, CI/CD, and zero-downtime deployment practices (GitLab CI, TeamCity, Spinnaker).
Experience with database design and administration (MySQL, Redis, ClickHouse).
Experience with web frameworks (Django, Flask, FastAPI, Starlette).
Exposure to front-end web application development (TypeScript, HTML, CSS, React).
Experience with single-page applications and modern web app architectures.
Degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field.
