The Team:

Join the expansion of our Regulatory Legal team. Comprised of 20 dedicated professionals, our team drives Kraken's mission forward through licensing initiatives, regulatory counsel, inquiries, and product launches.

The Opportunity:

  • The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in accelerating business growth, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and advocating for appropriate regulatory frameworks in the evolving crypto landscape in Europe and Asia.

  • Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, Regulatory for EMEA/APAC, this position will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to navigate legal and regulatory challenges, mitigate risks, and support the company's strategic objectives.

  • This leader will manage and grow a team of 4+ on day one and will be responsible for establishing clear and scalable working processes and procedures for the group.

  • This individual will consult with the business & control functions on their legal obligations under the regulatory frameworks applicable to e-money, crypto and securities. They will build strong cross-functional relationships, especially with Compliance, Product, Operations, and Marketing.

  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills you should HODL:

  • 14+ years of relevant experience applying financial services regulations across multiple international jurisdictions, whether in-house or at a financial institution, FinTech/digital asset business or in private practice.

  • Qualified Lawyer in UK or EU.

  • Exceptional soft skills - able to partner with stakeholders across all levels of the Product function and broader business and navigate competing priorities and ambitious growth plans.

  • Advanced understanding of the regulatory landscape across key international jurisdictions such as the UK, European Union and other major financial services hubs.

  • Excellent project management, negotiation, drafting, and time management skills.

  • Excellent judgment, analytic rigour, and business pragmatism and a strong team player who can bring out the best in people while working to tight deadlines.

  • Deep curiosity and problem solving skills.

  • Experience managing team members.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience advising the Regulatory function of a fast-growing FinTech or crypto business as in-house counsel.

  • Experience or knowledge of MiFID.

  • Prior experience supporting product launches from inception of an idea to launch in multiple countries simultaneously.
