About the job
The Twilio Brand Core Creative team is seeking a talented Art Director to join our growing team. This role is the creative force behind compelling visual storytelling across all brand touchpoints, from product videos and brand campaigns to event content and digital experiences.
As a Art Director, you are an expert communicator, collaborative partner, and innovative visual thinker who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment. You have a roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic and real passion for all aspects of multimedia production, from ideating big ideas, concept refinement, through final delivery. You understand how to thread creative vision through every medium while maintaining brand consistency and achieving business objectives.
You will work closely with our creative team, video producers, copywriters, designers, and brand stakeholders to create high-quality content that communicates the Twilio brand and its value proposition to developers and enterprises worldwide.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Conceptualize big ideas and craft compelling stories that inform, entertain, and impress technology-centric audiences
Create creative assets like graphics, storyboards, motion graphic templates, etc. for multimedia projects including campaigns, ads, promotions, and events
Draft and edit scripts while partnering with messaging, writing, and content teams
Art direct photo and video shoots, including talent selection, location scouting, shot composition, and on-set direction to ensure visual excellence
Create, update and maintain video/motion templates to ensure all elements meet brand standards and vendor requirements
Collaborate closely with creative peers including writers, designers, producers, and creative directors
Be a brand champion and creative voice while cultivating cross-functional partnerships across teams and agencies
Provide creative feedback on work from agencies, regional teams, and external partners
Navigate concurrent projects with aggressive timelines
Innovate through a mindset of creative problem-solving as plans change and new requirements arise
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and creative innovations
Be an all-around nice person to work with: willing to share knowledge, get things done, support the team, and have a good time

*Required:
4-8+ years of experience in art direction with advancing responsibility in multimedia creative environments, preferably in technology, B2B, or agency settings
Portfolio demonstrating big ideas and exceptional art direction across multiple mediums including video, motion graphics, photography, digital, and print
Brings a clear design point of view grounded in typography, color, layout, hierarchy, composition, movement, and timing
Iterates quickly by prototyping multiple directions, testing assumptions, and integrating feedback without losing the core idea
Proven experience art directing video shoots, photo shoots, and multimedia productions from concept to completion
Communicates persuasively, translating abstract ideas into actionable plans, facilitating constructive critique, and presenting clear options and rationale to stakeholders
Collaborates smoothly with remote teammates and agencies by setting expectations, giving crisp feedback, and balancing async and live workstreams to maintain momentum and quality
Experience with brand stewardship ensuring creative work aligns with brand guidelines while pushing creative innovation
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage ambiguity, and problem-solve under pressure while maintaining calm and positive attitude
Strong understanding of production workflows, timelines, and resource management
Expert in Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, with strong file hygiene
Desired:
In-house brand team or creative agency experience in B2B technology sector
Experience art directing for developer and technical audiences
Working knowledge of video editing software (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
Familiarity with motion graphics principles and After Effects
Experience using project management tools such as Airtable and DAM systems like Bynder
Basic understanding of web design, UX principles, and digital platforms
Experience with 3D design, AR/VR, or emerging media formats
An interest in AI-powered workflows
Background in directing or producing video content
BA or MA in Design, Fine Arts, Film, Communications, or related creative field
Location
This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.
Travel

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $96,640 - $120,800
Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $102,240 - $127,800
Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $113,600 - $XXX,XXX 142,000
This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
