About the team:
AI team in Goodnotes is looking to transform education and productivity using the latest technologies. We are working on helping students and teachers learn and teach more efficiently, and aim to achieve this by developing tools such as AI tutors, Classroom AI and more foundational technologies like subject-oriented handwriting recognition. You will join a distributed team across Europe and Asia focusing specifically on building AI capabilities within Goodnotes. You will manage a team of Machine Learning and iOS engineers, and work alongside other Engineering Managers, as well as Backend Engineers, PMs, QAs and designers to build and improve our new suite of AI features. Type of AI technologies we are developing include large language models, math solvers, handwriting recognition systems, etc.
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate ML Manager to help us build our AI capabilities. This person will be managing a team of ML and frontend (iOS) engineers. Given the size and focus of the team, the manager is expected to act as a tech lead and be partly hands-on - in terms of coding, setting up architecture and project management practices in the team, in addition to people management responsibilities. This is the role for you, if you’re excited to work on the things listed below:
End-to-end ownership of an AI project leveraging state-of-the-art ML technologies
Leading a multi-disciplinary team, comprised mostly of ML and Frontend engineers
Work with Senior AI Engineering Manager and VP of Engineering to define and execute engineering strategies, aligned with the company's goals
Ensure timely delivery of high-quality work by the team, while maintaining a positive work culture
Mentor and coach team members, encouraging their professional growth and supporting them in reaching their full potential
The skills you will need to be successful in the above:
Proven track record of successfully leading the development of AI-based features/applications from ideation to millions of users
Experience in managing and guiding engineering teams, providing technical and career guidance to team members
Solid mathematical foundation in deep learning techniques, LLM and NLP, with a strong preference for experience in handwriting recognition
Strong background in general software development, beyond AI/ML
Proficiency in Python. Any experience with Swift is a plus, but not a necessity
Passion for AI technologies and a deep conviction in their potential to bring positive transformation to the way people work and live
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically
Desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
