AI & Data Strategy Leader
Role: AI & Data Strategy Leader
Target Levels: Lead or Principal
Our AI & Data Strategy Leaders help clients turn AI and data capabilities into measurable business outcomes. You’ll work with senior executives to shape AI/data strategy and then lead cross-functional teams to deliver on that strategy.
Core Responsibilities
Lead AI & data strategy engagements end-to-end: define problems, assess readiness, prioritize use cases, and design roadmaps and operating models tied to revenue, customer experience, and innovation.
Own engagement delivery and stakeholder alignment: manage scope and risks, maintain executive (including C‑suite) relationships, and facilitate discovery / prioritization / “art of the possible” workshops.
Bridge business and technology by balancing technical, organizational, and process recommendations and building clear narratives and business cases for AI/data investments.
Shape the future-state AI & data operating model and stack (roles, processes, governance, and key platform/tooling choices) with safety, scalability, TCO, and regulatory needs in mind.
Provide delivery oversight for AI/data platforms and capabilities, partnering with Delivery Leads and technical teams to ensure execution matches the agreed strategy.
Own the quality of engagement outputs and provide hands-on coaching to project team members on consulting fundamentals and business impact.
At the Principal level, you also:
Co‑own account strategy with Client Account Leads and Technical Account Leads, shaping multi‑year AI/data roadmaps and connecting engagement outcomes to account growth.
Serve as a trusted executive advisor and play a senior role in critical pursuits and visible thought leadership, while mentoring other Engagement Leads and reinforcing ways of working.
Requirements
6+ years as a hands-on AI or data strategy leader, owning strategy engagements and roadmaps.
2+ years of consulting leadership with external clients, managing multiple workstreams and teams.
Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders (including C‑suite) and tell a clear, compelling story about the “why” behind recommendations.
Experience identifying and prioritizing AI/data opportunities, designing roadmaps and operating models, and building business cases and ROI tied to revenue, cost, risk, and customer experience.
Strong technical literacy across modern cloud and data platforms, data governance, AI governance, data/ML solutions (pipelines, models, SQL), and how these connect to business outcomes.
Experience leading workshops (discovery, prioritization, “art of the possible”), driving change and adoption, and coaching/mentoring consultants and technical leaders.
Track record of collaborating with client stakeholders, partners, and cross-functional teams, with a high sense of ownership and accountability.
Repeatedly owned full lifecycle delivery of AI or data strategy engagements as day‑to‑day Engagement Lead.
Comfortable managing complex single engagements or a small portfolio with strong planning, execution oversight, and stakeholder communication.
Willingness to travel as required by clients.
Additional expectations at the Principal level:
Extensive experience leading multi‑engagement or multi‑year AI/data strategy portfolios.
Has operated as a trusted advisor to executive teams and co‑owns account strategy, with a visible thought leadership profile and a strong track record developing other Engagement Leads.
