The VP of People oversees the People Organization for a global company with 800+ employees across the US, EU, and APJ regions. The org is ~40 people and includes Total Rewards, HR Business Partners, HR Operations, Learning & Talent Development, and Talent Acquisition. The role demands expertise in global HR processes, employee engagement, organizational design, and the ability to address the specific needs of a complex R&D-focused organization, and reports to the CEO during an exciting time of growth, and helps drive operational excellence. Key Areas of Focus:
Driving High-Performing Cultures:
Oversee calibrations and performance management systems to cultivate a high-performance culture.
Establish philosophies and processes for leveling, compensation, and incentives that align with business goals.
R&D Organizational Support:
Build and enhance management capabilities within the R&D function, ensuring alignment with the company's strategy.
Leverage best practices to manage the complexities of engineering and technical talent.
Global HR Leadership:
Manage and improve global HR processes, including tools and systems for efficiency and scalability.
Provide strategic guidance to middle management, helping to elevate 'middle of the pack' performers.
Recruiting and Retention:
Strategically drive efforts to hire top-tier engineering talent and ensure their retention.
Understand the complexities of highly scaled engineering teams to maintain competitiveness in the talent market.
Team Development and Organizational Design:
Invest in and develop the HR and Recruiting teams to meet the evolving needs of the company.
Lead organizational design efforts to optimize team structures and resources.
Employee Experience and Engagement:
Ensure the team designs and executes initiatives focused on improving employee experience and engagement.
Evaluate and implement employee programs that promote satisfaction, performance, and retention.
Total Rewards and HR Operations:
Proven experience in designing and implementing comprehensive global total rewards programs, including compensation structures, benefits strategies, and equity plans, to attract, retain, and motivate top talent while maintaining internal equity and external competitiveness.
Demonstrated ability to build and scale HR operations, including implementing HR systems (e.g., HRIS), process automation, and data-driven decision-making frameworks to improve operational efficiency and enhance employee experience across a global workforce.
What We Believe Are Important Traits for This Role
15+ years of progressive experience building, leading, and managing in HR in the tech industry.
Proven track record of building and scaling HR functions in high-growth or complex organizations.
Experience designing and implementing scalable, high-quality operational HR programs, processes, and systems globally, in high-tech companies of 1000+ employees with international locations.
Strong knowledge of HR compliance, labor laws, and employee relations.
Ability to influence, engage, and partner closely with appropriate business partners across all levels of the organization in planning, change management, and conflict resolution.
Executive HR business partnering experience, expertise in organizational design, incentives, and total rewards, and proven experience building a high-performing culture.
Collaborative work style - team player with low ego.
Demonstrated ability to manage through ambiguity and competing priorities.
Outstanding analytical, project management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Our annual base compensation for this role ranges from $318,750 - $401,250 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
