The role

The VP/Director of Marketing & Communications role is a strategic position that is accountable for ensuring that the way Spektrix engages with the sector, existing/potential clients and a variety of stakeholders meets our business goals. This global role leads a talented team split across the US and UK.

Spektrix operates in different regional markets, each of whom have different cultures, needs, market landscapes and degrees of opportunity. We’re the market leader in the UK and Canada and the third largest provider in the United States. We’ve also recently commenced operations in Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to the needs of these varied geographic markets, we have exciting plans for growth, retention, reputation and sector engagement. This role is pivotal in setting up our Marketing & Communications team for success in these key areas.

We’re in a market that tends to adopt technology for the long term. Compared to other SaaS markets, sales cycles can be long - sometimes measured in years - and once an organization has become a client, they will usually stay with us. In order for us to succeed in this context, reputation and quality are key - it’s important to us that we support and empower the organizations we serve, fulfilling our mission to build a thriving, connected arts and entertainment sector. This role is all about enabling Marketing & Communications to support the business scaling at speed, while also investing for the long term in our reputation and market position.

Key AccountabilitiesAccountabilities:

  • Establish and execute the overall marketing strategy that supports our business objectives. Working with key stakeholders in sales, client success, product, community, and sector strategy, you’ll determine how our Marketing & Communications activities ensure we meet our goals.

  • Ensure that our key pillars of growth, retention, and sector engagement inform our strategy, in line with our mission and values. You’ll work with other leaders in the business to ensure that our marketing activities are continually prioritized according to business needs, balancing our long term goals with reactive communications in response to changing sector needs.

  • Ensure the line management and mentorship of a high-performing Marketing & Communications team is in place, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

  • Create an overall marketing strategy, including branding, positioning, messaging, design and distribution of campaigns and go-to-market plans, to set Spektrix up for maximum success.

  • Ensure the budget is managed effectively to increase ROI.

  • Ensure that the design and creation of campaigns are data informed and are effectively supporting client acquisition, brand awareness, engagement, and retention.

  • Ensure our networking and sponsorship strategies are serving both our short and long term goals around reputation, acquisition and retention.

  • Ensure the Marketing & Communications team is appropriately resourced with the right roles, working effectively with agencies or freelancers where appropriate.

  • Ensure that our Marketing & Communications tech stack serves our needs.

  • Ensure that our practices for collecting and using client, prospect, and partner data for marketing purposes are compliant in our operating regions and our own internal policies.

Day to day activities

Your day to day in the role is likely to involve:

  • Significant time managing the Marketing and Communications team, including supporting direct reports to be high performers and ensuring effective professional development for all, and assessing the skills gaps/ and opportunities.

  • Working globally (this may require flexibility with hours to cover different timezones) to ensure that the team is effectively prioritizing as needed for the best possible impact on business goals. This will involve a broad understanding of different parts of the business, and investing in collaborative working relationships beyond your team.

  • Keeping close enough to the day to day to be hands-on when needed and to advocate for the needs of the team; balanced with strategic oversight of priorities to make the best investment of effort or resource.

  • Staying informed about competitors, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure Spektrix stands out.

Key Requirements

  • A proven track record of driving multi-channel marketing strategies and campaigns across a range of functions, such as lead generation, product marketing, and brand awareness.

  • Experience of translating a company vision into an actionable marketing vision and plan

  • Experience of inspiring and influencing across a business

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring marketing teams.

  • History of efficient campaign management and/or oversight across marketing automation, social media, product alerts, etc.

  • Data-informed mindset with the ability to understand marketing metrics and make data-backed decisions.

  • Proven B2B marketing leadership experience

  • Up to date knowledge of technology industry trends.

  • Experience of leveraging partner or sponsor relationships to maximize visibility and reach across a target market.

  • In-depth understanding of marketing technologies including CRM, digital marketing, reporting and analytics software.

Benefits

  • Company paid medical, dental and vision insurance

  • Generous Paid Time Off benefits, including:

    • 21 days of PTO (vacation, personal time, whatever you choose to use it for)

    • 14 paid holidays

    • 10 Paid Sick Days

  • 401(k) with 4% employer match

  • Professional development opportunities

  • Two paid volunteering days per year

  • Flexible working with support for WFH setup / equipment

  • Month-long Paid Sabbatical after 5 years of service

  • Free snacks, drinks and breakfast items in our offices

  • Catered lunch at the office every Thursday

  • Varied range of regular social activities throughout the year

Working from home

While most of our teams are based in our NYC, London, and Manchester offices, many of our team members regularly work from home. As a result, we operate with a 'remote-first' approach, even when we're physically in the office.

We’ll provide reasonable support and all the hardware you need to get started, but we do require that you have the following already in place for a good home working set up:

  • A quiet working space at home where you can consistently take video calls without interruptions

  • An internet connection that supports your participation in video calls and access to our systems and service.

Costs associated with working:

  • For 'local' team members (under 2 hours from the office), a stipend is offered for each day you work on-site. Think of it as our way of easing potential commute related costs (but no need to prove it - this is a perk we offer for days worked onsite, regardless of how you choose to get there).

  • For remote-based team members (‘non local’), Spektrix covers all work related travel expenses directly. There is no stipend, but flights, hotels for overnight stays, etc. are paid for through our work travel tool, TravelPerk, and/or reimbursed through an expense report where applicable.

Equal opportunities

Spektrix is an equal opportunities employer. We recruit regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or disability status and look to employ from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. Studies show that women do not apply for roles unless they meet 100% of the requirements, whereas men apply when they meet at least 60% of the requirements. At Spektrix, we know that there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. Spektrix is committed to creating an inclusive work environment, where our team members are supported in expressing themselves and delivering their best work. So however you identify and whatever background you bring with you, please apply if this is a role that would make you excited to come into work every day.

Diversity in the workplace is hugely important to our working environment and to enable both individuals and Spektrix to thrive. By valuing each person’s differences we enable each person to contribute their unique experiences, strengths and viewpoints. Workplace diversity is something we aim to achieve and maintain at Spektrix, and we are pursuing a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve and work in. We aim to reflect this diversity in all departments and at all levels of seniority in the business, right up to the board.

In an effort to help us reduce bias, please do not include a photo on your resume or application.
