The Daily Dot seeks an experienced video editor to join the team on a contract basis. You will be expected to work on a variety of editing projects, from turning around timely news videos in a matter of hours to working on more long-form videos based on our original reporting, all while collaborating across the newsroom.
This is a fully remote, contract-based position.
Responsibilities:
Adapt existing articles into short video scripts.
Record and edit 2-3 short-form reels per week covering the Daily Dot’s trending internet culture stories.
Incorporate original graphics and pre-built .mogrt templates into original content while maintaining the Daily Dot’s brand guidelines.
Record clear and professional voice-overs as needed for reels.
Incorporate feedback in a timely manner and revise videos as needed to maintain quality, accuracy, and tone.
Gather and organize necessary video, audio, and graphic assets for 1-2 long-form YouTube videos per week.
Edit, mix, and caption long-form videos based on provided voice-over and script.
Requirements:
2-3 years of proven experience in video production and editing.
Fluency in Adobe Premiere Pro
Basic proficiency in After Effects (masking, 2D animation, Premiere workflows, etc).
Basic proficiency in audio mixing.
Proficiency in resizing and reformatting Photoshop and Illustrator graphics for video a plus.
Comfortable working under tight deadlines with quick turnaround times.
