An overview of this role

This position is 100% remote and located in the United States.

GitLab is looking to hire a Manager to our Strategic Finance team who specializes in Analytics & Insights. The team focuses on special projects like long range bookings forecasting, new product launches, and pricing strategy. The team also manages the forecast process for GitLab’s business cases and works on significant ad hoc strategy “deep dives” to influence critical business decisions. This role reports into a Director and will work closely with the Vice President of Finance and various business partners on financial analyses that drive GitLab’s earnings guidance and are presented to GitLab’s C-level executives and Board of Directors. The team collaborates cross-functionally with sales leaders, revenue operations, product, and marketing to perform financial and strategic analyses to support decision-making and accelerate growth.

This is the perfect role for an analytical team-player who wants to help grow new businesses from the ground up. The ideal candidate is scrappy, enjoys understanding metrics that drive the business, thrives in uncertainty and is capable of managing multiple projects at once.

This candidate will begin in an individual contributor (IC) capacity.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze data on financial/operating metrics and customer behavior, utilizing advanced tools such as SQL and BI platforms like Tableau; ability to intelligently leverage AI like Anthropic Claude to supplement core workflows

  • Design and implement comprehensive dashboards for visibility into key metrics and system health

  • Partner with functional Data teams, Sales Strategy, Marketing Operations, and Product teams to develop management reporting/KPIs and oversee regular operating reviews of business initiatives and new products

  • Discover data gaps and provide requirements to Central Data team and Data teams on adjacent functions like Sales and Product for proper logging and data governance

  • Build strong relationships with business partners and develop actionable insights that uplift performance of each partner’s area on a measurable and meaningful basis

  • Some examples of projects this role will support from an analytics perspective:

    • Design long range financial model to forecast GitLab’s bookings in future fiscal years by ARR movement (new business, expansion, contraction, churn)

    • Build out business cases for new product offerings and partnerships; assist in governance with stakeholders from Finance, Product, Sales Strategy, Marketing, and Engineering

    • Analyze GitLab’s unit economics across different customer segments and geographies

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in a B2B SaaS company in a similar role

  • Track record of strong performance in data analytics or a related field

  • Strong proficiency in SQL is required, with the ability to write complex queries, perform data extraction and manipulation, and maintain data integrity

  • Strong proficiency in SaaS related concepts (Bookings, SaaS Metrics, NDR) with experience extracting data from Salesforce is required

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau is a major plus

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-moving work environment and solve ambiguous, challenging problems

  • Self starter with an ownership mentality

How GitLab will support you:

  • Benefits to support your health, finances, and well-being

  • All remote, asynchronous work environment

  • Flexible Paid Time Off

  • Team Member Resource Groups

  • Equity Compensation & Employee Stock Purchase Plan

  • Growth and development budget

  • Parental leave

  • Home office support

Please note that we welcome interest from candidates with varying levels of experience; many successful candidates do not meet every single requirement. Additionally, studies have shown that people from underrepresented groups are less likely to apply to a job unless they meet every single qualification. If you're excited about this role, please apply and allow our recruiters to assess your application.
