About this team and role:
The role is part of the broader Mozilla Infrastructure Organization that is responsible for critical horizontal functions, namely IT Services, Enterprise & Product Security, Cloud & Data Engineering, Ecosystem Services Engineering and Infra TPM. We enable various capabilities across one or more Mozilla entities aligned with mission & goals to build a safe & secure internet. The Infra Organization is purpose-driven across Mozilla, and influences and shapes technical decisions with a strong privacy-centric customer mindset. This role is part of the Infra TPM function and will be working as the primary Technical Program Manager (TPM) on our Identity and Access Management (IAM) program, The IAM program spans across Enterprise IT and Product Platform services. The TPM will work closely with the IT, Cloud, and Security teams. Additionally you’ll also support other Infra Org initiatives based on priorities and goals.
What you’ll do:
We are seeking an experienced Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the end-to-end planning and delivery of our Identity and Access Management initiative. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of our IAM program. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Security, Cloud & Data Engineering, and IT, to ensure robust and secure identity, authentication, authorization, and access control capabilities across the Mozilla organization. Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Strategy
Develop and drive the overall IAM program roadmap, aligning with our organizational goals and security standard processes
Serve as the primary contact for IAM initiatives, ensuring clear communication of objectives, schedules, and progress to senior leadership and partners
Continuously review industry trends, emerging technologies, and standard methodologies to enhance the IAM program
Understand the technical requirements and needs (current and future) of Mozilla’s IAM system to identify dependencies and risks related to program delivery and represent those to senior leadership and other teams
Cross-Functional Coordination
Partner with product & engineering managers, infrastructure teams, and security engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Coordinate cross-functional resources (people, time, and scope) to ensure timely delivery of IAM features and enhancements
Facilitate collaboration among engineering, operations, and security teams to remove roadblocks and optimize workflows, organizing everything in Jira and Confluence
Technical Oversight
Facilitate and where needed contribute to defining standard service arch designs, data flow call patterns, API interfaces working closely with domain specific engineering leads
Work closely with engineering teams to document existing implementations and associated improvements
Ability to disambiguate complex workflows and system integrations, working with engineering leads that help flesh out epic / sprint level deliverables
Collaborate with architects and engineers to plan and design scalable and secure solutions that integrate with existing systems (e.g., Active Directory, cloud platforms, internal applications)
Drive system integrations and migrations involving IAM tools and services, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum security
Risk Management & Compliance
Understand dependencies to implement controls and audits to meet security and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, PCI-DSS, GDPR)
Define and develop a risk and vulnerability management framework for the IAM ecosystem, working with our security teams to implement mitigation strategies
Ensure alignment with corporate governance and compliance standards throughout the project lifecycle
Project & Resource Management
Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and timelines for multiple workstreams within the IAM program
Track and report on objectives, key results and golden metrics, such as system availability, and user satisfaction, all the while keeping in mind Mozilla key performance indicators
Guide and mentor team members, fostering a high-performance culture
Senior Leadership & Executive Engagement
Present program updates, risk assessments, and solution proposals to executive leadership and governance committees
Advocate for IAM standard methodologies and drive consensus among diverse teams and business units
Prepare and deliver effective presentations on complex technical topics to non-technical senior leadership
What you’ll bring:
Education & Experience
At least 10+ years of experience in program or project management, with a minimum of 3 years focused on access management, identity management, security, IT systems, and Cloud environments
Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, complex technology programs in enterprise environments
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of IAM concepts: identity lifecycle management, authentication/authorization protocols
Experience with IAM platforms such as Okta, Ping Identity, ForgeRock, SailPoint, or similar tools
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their native IAM services
Working knowledge of compliance frameworks
Program Management Expertise
Proficient in Agile methodologies, with the skills and compassion to guide, coach, and bring teams along
Skilled senior leadership management, communication, and negotiation skills. Able to balance opposing priorities, interests, and timelines
Ability to lead multiple workstreams and teams, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, yet collaborative environment
Additional Skills
