Staff Software Engineer

The Engineering team at Vonage is a fast-growing group of talented engineers. Our Engineers face multiple challenges associated with high-performance, distributed systems, and processing large volumes of data in real time. The team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help us improve the experience of onboarding Partners and provide tools for them to manage the complete lifecycle of the customer journey. This is a cross-functional position, you will be involved in modifying existing systems across the company, and creating new microservices from scratch. All the services the team owns are integral to the success of the business and are used widely by other teams or end customers.
What you'll do
Contribute to the architecture of APIs and Backend services.
Contribute to existing Backend Systems.
Design and drive implementation of New Microservices.
Assisting with in-life maintenance, testing, debugging and documentation of deployed services.
Full Software Development Lifecycle from requirements to deployment and operation in production.
Set high standards to ensure the delivery of secure, high quality, well-tested and scalable systems to meet customer and business requirements.
Mentor junior colleagues.
What you'll bring
8+ years of Java or Kotlin Development Experience (Spring Boot / Micronaut).
Strong experience with Relational and NoSQL databases.
Cloud experience (ideally AWS).
Container orchestrator experience (Kubernetes and / or Nomad).
Event driven system knowledge using Kafka.
Solution design experience with highly scalable systems.
Ability to pick up new software, frameworks and APIs quickly, evaluate them and train team members on using it.
Understanding of monitoring and systems provisioning.
Strong focus on testing and security.

Good communicator.
