Staff Software Engineer (C++)

Position Overview

We are building and extending a cutting-edge comprehensive IT auditing and risk assessment platform that enables organizations to monitor, analyze, and report on user activity, system changes, and data access across on-premises and cloud environments, providing actionable intelligence, alerts, detailed audit trails, and automated response actions to help mitigate security risks, support compliance, and strengthen governance. This will revolutionize how customers secure their data by placing identity at the core - providing unparalleled visibility and control. We are integrating agentic AI capabilities into our platform. Allowing AI assistants to query security data using natural language, enhancing the efficiency of security teams in assessing data exposure and access risks. With a rapidly growing customer base and an expanding team, we're looking for a passionate and experienced Staff Software Engineer with strong expertise in C++ to join our dynamic engineering team.  

 

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining product features for Microsoft OS and Services, as well as Microsoft 365. You’ll play a key role in shaping the system architecture, mentoring team members, and driving technical decisions that directly impact the product’s success. We're looking for someone who is well-organized, proactive, and capable of developing a deep understanding of the existing codebase to support and extend the current feature set.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Use modern C++ and the Windows development stack to build robust and efficient software components.

  • Implement and maintain C++ modules responsible for the backend of the product, including the core components.

  • Research, analyze and reverse-engineer the behavior of Windows components to determine how to reliably collect audit data.

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data collection and processing workflows to ensure scalability and low resource usage.

  • Leverage multithreading and parallel processing to efficiently collect and handle large volumes of data.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following the industry’s best practices such as code reviews, unit testing, integration and acceptance testing.

  • Work closely with other software engineers, Product Management, and other development teams to ensure the feature’s completeness and reliability.

  • Participation in all stages of development, from gathering requirements to maintenance.

  • Continuously explore new technologies and methodologies relevant to Windows internals, security auditing and compliance.

  • Provide strategic insights into the continuous improvement of solutions and processes.

  • Ensure that all developed components comply with security and privacy requirements relevant to enterprise environments.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • At least 8 years of experience in C++ development with the active use of modern standards.

  • At least 4 years of Windows software development in C++.

  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming.

  • Proficiency with effective algorithms and data structures.

  • Experience with multithreading and distributed calculations.

  • Familiarity with the Windows development stack and up-to-date MS Visual Studio.

  • Understanding of widely used software development practices, such as: Unit tests, Integrational tests, Code review, CI/CD

  • Experience with software development methodologies like Agile and Scrum

  • Experience mentoring team members.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, essential for fostering a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with MS SQL, Active Directory, and other technologies from Microsoft.

  • Experience with WIX installers, including creating MSI packages, custom actions, and UI dialogs.

  • Solid foundational understanding of Windows internals.

  • Familiarity with COM, and experience in using ATL, WTL.

  • Proficiency in C# programming.

  • Work experience in the cybersecurity industry.
