Staff Product Researcher
Job Overview:
The Product Research team plays a vital role in Coursera’s success. Our tight-knit team is responsible for gathering learner & partner insights and translating them into actionable recommendations that help Coursera achieve a seamless experience across its platform. As a product researcher, your work will influence everything from improving micro-interactions to defining strategic product roadmaps. We are looking for a Staff Product Researcher to join our team and lead product research for our Learning Content Ecosystem & Experience group.
Responsibilities:
Design and conduct user research across all stages of the product development cycle deploying a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative methods
Deliver actionable and compelling insights into user needs and product performance to guide product decisions, tactical and strategic
Formulate a research agenda across vast and complex product space, connecting research to business goals, such as activation, adoption, and retention, ensuring insights lead to a clear and measurable impact
Partner with design, product management and engineering to tackle the most strategic research questions and ensure insights lead to tangible product action
Collaborate closely with data science to connect qualitative insights with behavioral data to tell a fuller story
Mentor researchers on their craft, raising the bar for research quality and outcomes
Basic Qualifications:
7+ years of experience leading user research projects with demonstrated impact
Mastery of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative UX Research methods, with a strong research portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience conducting research in complex technical domains (e.g. LMS systems or SaaS), with a strong curiosity to gain a deep understanding of the platform, technology, and user experience
Strong collaborative skills working cross-functionally with Design, Product Management and Engineering to translate research insights into product action
Demonstrated ability to manage a large scope of research ownership, balancing meeting complex product priorities while executing with rigor and speed
Excellent communication and presentation skills for conveying complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and organizational levels
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage ambiguity and self-start
Experience managing or mentoring researchers to elevate their research craft and outcomes
Nice-To-Have:
Experience working in education (e.g. course instructor, TA), or within EdTech
Experience designing with emerging technologies, (e.g. GenAI)

Compensation:
Coursera offers competitive pay and equitable compensation practices. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The targeted hiring base salary range for this role is between $146,000 and $230,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experiences, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, and geographical location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for variable pay, equity, and benefits.
