As a Staff Designer on our Design Innovation team, you will play a crucial role in driving the quality and coherence of our holistic user experience to increase user sentiment on Pinterest. Your work will focus on evolving the design language, working with flagship feature teams to amplify hero experiences to feel more iconic and memorable for both new and existing users who interact with our platform. You will develop scalable solutions that make the product feel more Gen-Z resonant, modern, delightful and uniquely Pinterest. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to lead projects aimed at identifying opportunities for future innovation through competitive audits, trend forecasting and visual research.
What you’ll do:
Partner closely with your product and engineering counterparts to define the product strategy, roadmap, process, and culture, develop impactful, user-centric, and data-informed solutions
Design products—systematically, interactively, visually—with pixel-level precision
Work alongside engineers throughout the implementation and quality assurance phases
Be comfortable in a fast paced, iterative, experimental, and mission driven environment
Work with and manage feedback from multiple stakeholders across eng, product, legal, operations, policy, and Design System teams; as well as engineering, product and design leadership
Uphold and inspire a high level of design execution throughout the team
Grow the people on the design team through coaching and mentorship
What we’re looking for:
Proven track record envisioning, building, and iterating on digital products in close partnership with product management and engineering
Energized by spearheading innovation initiatives focused on design language, brand expression, quality and coherence
Excellent product thinking and UX design / visual design skills
Attention to detail and a sense of pride and ownership over the quality of the product
Impeccable understanding of layout, typography, color, and other graphic design principles
Great communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate your design decisions and the problems they’re solving
Drive results by holding the team accountable for efficient, high-quality execution of goals
A well-versed storyteller with strong presentation skills
Experience in balancing speed and quality with a focus both visioning exercise and jumping into tactical UX flows for implementation
High level of self-awareness with a growth mindset that is focused on impact
Strong portfolio that demonstrates outstanding design skills and a passion for experimentation, data and systems thinking a plus
Bachelor’s degree in design, a related field or equivalent experience
