The Ads Infrastructure Excellence team owns scalable repeatable architecture components and developer tools to ensure efficiency, scalability and reliability of the shared infrastructure used to build and support Reddit Ads.

Our responsibilities include:

  • Evolution of the Reddit Ads stack - Bringing the Ads tech stack into the future leveraging existing Reddit centralized resources and going beyond when required by ads unique scaling and performance challenges.

  • Engineering velocity - Unlock the shortest path, without compromising on quality, to build from proof of concepts to fully productionized systems. We want to democratize developer velocity independently from the size or the amount of infra/system expertise a specific vertical team has.

  • Cloud resources & Data observability - Standardize and apply best practices among all the vertical teams to be able to understand Cloud and Business impact for any given product launch.

  • Cost of Revenue Tracking and Optimizations - Design, implement, and drive best practices for all development teams to ship cost efficient systems that can survive the test of time. The Ads Infrastructure team acts as the gate to validate the engineering excellence of a given system going live for millions of customers.

We are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the Ads Infrastructure Excellence team. What You’ll Do

  • Work collaboratively with a team of software engineers to create and maintain the most foundational components for Reddit Ads infrastructure.

  • Lead large scale initiatives, like Infra re-architecture to enable Ads serving from multiple regions and cloud providers; develop and support dev / testing / pre-production environments for Ads services.

  • Identify gaps and emerging opportunities across Ads infrastructure, and lead strategic investments to address them.

  • Work cross functionally with all Ads engineering and product, in pursuit of the team's objectives.

  • Model a culture of technical curiosity, deep ownership, and high standards.

  • Partner with the Engineering manager and other leaders, to drive the team’s long term  roadmap.

  • 7+ years of experience designing and operating high performance infrastructure powering Ads, recommendations/search, or any other consumer facing products.

  • Previous experience with distributed systems at web scale (thousands of nodes, hundreds of systems)

  • Strong design and development experience building services/platforms leveraging cloud infrastructure systems - Kubernetes, AWS, GCP.

  • Experience in Go, Kubernetes, Argo, Flux, and other CNCF landscape projects.

  • Experience with systems observability, reliability, and operational best practices.

  • Strong focus on scalability, performance, user experience, and quality. You are an undying advocate for the user, and you have a deep intuition for how critical infra systems work at scale and how to improve user experience through platforms.

  • High empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to find compromise working across the entire Ads engineering org.

Bonus Points

  • Experience driving infrastructure cost efficiency and performance optimization at scale.

  • Past experience technically leading large scale multi year re-architecture projects, resulting in significant improvements to reliability and scalability for large product areas.
