A quick snapshot… As an Atlassian Systems Engineer, you’ll be the go-to expert for managing and optimizing our Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira, Confluence, and related tools. You’ll ensure seamless system administration, user support, and continuous improvement of our internal platforms to meet evolving business needs.

Why it’s a big deal…   Your work directly impacts how teams across the organization collaborate, track progress, and deliver results. By maintaining and enhancing our Atlassian tools, you’ll empower departments like IT, Engineering, Education, Professional Services, and Technical Support to operate more efficiently and effectively. Your contributions will also play a key role in major initiatives like improving complicated workflows, custom fields, and moving more teams to adopt Atlassian products.

Are you the person we’re looking for?   Related experience. You’re a subject matter expert with Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Desk, Jira Service Module, etc. You’ve managed multiple instances, customized complex workflows, and supported Jira Service Management modules. You’re comfortable with user management, permissions, screen schemes, and integrating third-party add-ons from the Atlassian Marketplace. You partner with teams to understand their Atlassian system needs, guide them on solutions, and implement enhancements.

Analytical thinker and creative problem solver. You’re able to see issues holistically and follow the flow of the stack to get to the root of the matter -- a key skill in this role. But where you really shine is with your ability to identify creative solutions to unique customer requirements. This is critical for ensuring our customer issues are resolved in a manner that meets or exceeds their expectations without increasing their costs.

Collaborative & Communicative. You thrive in cross-functional environments and are skilled at translating user needs into system solutions. You’re proactive in responding to application issues and enhancement requests, and you communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Analytical & Agile. You have strong analytical skills and a knack for identifying opportunities to streamline operations. You’re comfortable working in a dynamic, agile environment and can juggle multiple priorities with ease.

Here’s what will give you an edge…Initiative. You don’t just maintain systems—you improve them. You’re always looking for ways to enhance performance, simplify workflows, and support business growth. Whether it’s leading testing for new releases or proposing new automation projects, you take ownership and drive results.

Cloud & Consolidation Experience. You’ve been involved in Atlassian cloud migrations and instance consolidation projects, and you understand the nuances of scaling systems to support a growing organization.

Initiative. You don’t wait around for things to happen or for your manager to tell you what to do. You’re not only proactive about completing your own work, but when you sense the need to introduce a project that will benefit the team or the organization -- even if it’s outside your scope of work -- you put a proposal together, talk to the team about it, and own it.

Education and certifications.  You’ve successfully completed of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Additional Atlassian certifications are nice to have!
