Are you an experienced product manager excited to work with developer tools that help the biggest companies around the world connect and orchestrate their APIs with GraphQL? As the Developer Experience Product Manager at Apollo, you'll lead product vision for the core capabilities that enable enterprises to adopt and scale Apollo's industry-leading API composition platform, GraphOS, across their organizations. You'll own our entire suite of developer tools—GraphOS Studio (our SaaS application for developing and managing GraphOS environments), Rover (our command-line interface), IDE extensions for VSCode and IntelliJ, and local development tools like GraphOS Sandbox—while exploring how emerging technologies like AI can transform the developer experience through initiatives like our recently launched Apollo MCP Server. In this role, you'll work directly with engineering teams at companies like Wayfair, The New York Times, and Coinbase, to understand their challenges and build solutions that make GraphQL development delightful at any scale. You'll define and drive Apollo's vision for the developer ecosystem, build roadmaps that balance immediate developer needs with long-term platform evolution, and ship features that meaningfully improve how developers build, manage, and operate distributed graphs. If you're passionate about developer tools, have a track record of driving adoption of technical products, and want to shape how the world's best engineering teams build modern APIs, we'd love to talk to you.

Why This Role, Why Now

  • AI is transforming developer tools: Our MCP Server bridges AI and GraphQL, letting developers connect AI to GraphQL in minutes. The Future of MCP is GraphQL | Apollo GraphQL Blog. You'll define how AI assistants help developers build faster, debug smarter, and ship with confidence.

  • Proven market leadership: GraphOS powers the APIs of some of the largest and most successful companies in the world. Your work impacts how the world's best engineering teams operate.

  • Developer experience is the differentiator: As GraphQL matures, the focus shifts from 'why GraphQL?' to 'how do we make GraphQL work well for our teams?. You'll own the tools and experiences that help developers succeed with GraphOS at every stage of their journey.

What You'll Own - The Full Developer Journey

  • AI Integration: Shape how LLMs interact with GraphQL through MCP and beyond

  • Developer Tools: Rover CLI, VSCode/IntelliJ extensions, local development experiences

  • GraphOS Studio: Our SaaS platform where developers build, test, and manage their graphs

Your Impact:

  • Transform how AI and APIs work together, making complex orchestration feel magical

  • Reduce developer onboarding from days to minutes with AI-powered assistance

  • Build the tools that make GraphQL as intuitive as REST, but 10x more powerful

  • Create experiences developers genuinely love - the kind they tweet about

Who You Are

  • You understand what makes developers tick - because you've been one or worked closely with them

  • You can navigate technical discussions about APIs, infrastructure, and system design

  • You're excited about AI's potential, but grounded in practical developer needs

  • You excel at remote collaboration and written communication

Nice-to-Haves

  • You've led developer tools/platforms to significant adoption (ideally B2B SaaS)

  • Experience with GraphQL, API platforms, or developer infrastructure

  • Track record of building developer communities or driving open-source adoption

  • You've integrated AI/ML into developer workflows

  • You've worked at the intersection of product-led and enterprise growth

Why Apollo?

  • The tech: GraphQL is becoming the essential protocol for AI-API orchestration

  • The team: Work with engineers who created GraphQL at Facebook and leaders from GitHub, Stripe, and AWS

  • The impact: Your code ships to production at Fortune 500 companies daily

  • The culture: Remote-first, developer-obsessed, moving at AI speed
