Sr Product Designer - Growth, Engagement

As a member of the Growth team, you'll play a key role in driving business outcomes by helping users find increased value and efficiency with GitLab. Ensuring a frictionless experience for users who want to get started, trial, purchase, and explore new features is essential to delivering results for our customers. As a designer in this space, you’ll be instrumental in making that happen.
The Engagement team is focused on driving deeper product adoption from activated users by improving both the depth and breadth of their GitLab usage. You'll be working on initiatives that help users adopt GitLab as a daily-driver tool and discover additional functionality to meet a wider range of their needs. You'll play a crucial role in designing intelligent, contextual experiences that surface the right information and features to each user at the right time.

What you’ll do:
You’ll work alongside UX Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineers to iterate on new features within the GitLab product.
You'll collaborate with teams across the product to design personalized experiences that help users discover relevant content, navigate GitLab's surface area more effectively, and adopt additional functionality that meets their needs.
You’ll communicate your design thinking and ideas through wireframes, prototypes, user flows, mockups, and high-fidelity visual designs.
You’ll help develop hypotheses and establish clear success metrics to test new features or product changes and determine their impact on user experience and business outcomes.
You'll help establish growth methodologies and best practices that other product teams can adopt to improve onboarding, feature adoption, and discoverability within their own areas.
You’ll engage with our user base and the wider GitLab community to understand their pain points and work toward long-term fixes that enable them to succeed with their goals.
You’ll undertake usability testing to validate your thinking. (We have an excellent team of UX Researchers who can offer guidance, as needed.)
You’ll contribute to our Design System, alongside the rest of the UX team and the GitLab community as a whole.
What you'll bring:
Must have demonstrated experience working as a Growth designer, or working in a growth-relevant area such as onboarding, user acquisition, free-to-paid conversion, feature adoption, etc.
Familiarity with product experimentation.
Domain knowledge or background in DevSecOps.
Experience fostering collaboration across multiple product teams and stakeholders.
Experience conducting your own research with a variety of methods, and strong decision making skills for when to do research.
Strong visual design skills with the ability to balance leveraging the design system and recognizing when a unique component is needed.

Product Design supports the teams at GitLab by becoming experts in our stage group, educating ourselves about the entire product, and staying engaged with user and business goals. We partner closely with our stable counterparts in Product Management and Development. As Product Designers, we are the owners of design judgment. We start with a problem to solve and always first consider what the best experience for the user would be.

Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
