Sr. Manager - UX Engineering
Pinterest Design is seeking a Sr. Manager, UX Engineering to join our dynamic, centralized UX Engineering organization. You will be responsible for building, scaling, and leading the team that serves as the connective tissue between design and engineering at Pinterest. Reporting directly to the Head of Design Foundations, you will guide a team, ensuring Pinterest delivers world-class, cohesive, and future-forward user interface experiences.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and champion the UX Engineering discipline at Pinterest, driving the strategic direction, operational excellence, and growth of a passionate and collaborative team.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Leadership: Drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the centralized UX Engineering team. Champion the role of UX Engineering across Pinterest and position your team as the go-to partners for enabling design at scale
Team Building & Management: Recruit, grow, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of talented UX Engineers. Nurture a healthy, inclusive, and high-performing team culture built around innovation, quality, and partnership
Cross-functional Execution: Collaborate closely with Design, Product, and Engineering leadership to align goals, set priorities, and ensure the seamless translation of design vision into high-impact product experiences
Technical Direction: Provide hands-on guidance on architecture, implementation, and process improvement. Advocate for and establish best practices in accessibility, performance, and code quality through your team
Organizational Impact: Scale and operationalize the centralized UX Engineering function—establishing processes, rituals, and partnerships that enable consistent, cohesive, and innovative user experiences
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, design a related field or equivalent experience
Proven experience managing and scaling high-performing UX Engineering or Design Technology teams, ideally within a centralized organizational model
10+ years experience in UX Engineering, frontend engineering, design technology, or similar roles, with 3+ years in an engineering management or technical leadership position
Deep expertise in front-end web (HTML, CSS, React/TS) and/or platform UI frameworks (iOS/Android)
Excellent strategic thinking and the ability to break down complex organizational and technical challenges into actionable plans. A track record of delivering impactful, cross-functional projects directly and through your team that raise the bar for user experience, performance, and developer productivity
Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Able to influence and inspire across design, engineering, and executive leadership
This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection. This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
