Sr. Manager of Data Science & AI
Position Summary:
The Sr. Manager of Data Science & AI oversees and coordinates the people, resources, and processes required to build, deploy, and continuously improve machine‑learning models and AI‑powered applications that unlock value for our partners and internal teams. The Sr. Manager operates as a player/coach: remaining hands‑on with code reviews and architectural decisions while cultivating an environment where data scientists and AI engineers thrive. They remove obstacles, champion best practices, and ensure that our AI initiatives align strategically with Pax8’s product roadmap.
Essential Responsibilities:
Strategically grow, manage, and develop a team highly skilled team of data scientists and AI engineers (e.g., hiring, mentoring, developing, giving performance reviews, giving feedback at weekly 1:1 meetings)
Lead projects to completion Influence the team and broader organization by providing technical advice during the planning of complex solutions
Document solutions so that information can be easily disseminated to the Engineering team
Contribute to projects and software releases Coordinates and manages on-call rotations
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
At least eight (8) years of data science, AI engineering, or software development experience
At least two (2) years of people management experience
Passionate about advancements in artificial intelligence
Solid understanding of machine learning and software engineering principles
Proven experience building strong identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals
Proven experience developing people to meet both their career goals and the organization's goals
Ability to paint a compelling picture of the vision and strategy that motivates others to action and proactively anticipate future needs
Ability to discern the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement
Proven experience collaborating with international teams and stakeholders
Required Education & Certifications:
B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience
Compensation:
Qualified candidates can expect a compensation range of $165,000 to $208,000 or more depending on experience.
Expected Closing Date: 6/25/2025
