Sr. Counsel - Compliance Investigation
The Sr. Counsel, Compliance Investigations will play a pivotal role in promoting Pinterest’s strong culture of compliance and ethics. The successful candidate will own the development and improvement of the internal compliance investigations program; conduct sensitive and confidential investigations; and work as a highly experienced project manager capable of driving and supporting management of the global compliance investigations portfolio. This role will manage various compliance operations initiatives related to internal investigations, including design, implementation and maintenance of policies, systems, metrics, and other controls.
What You’ll Do:
Own the compliance investigations process, including conducting and managing all aspects of compliance investigations into alleged misconduct (including potential violations of law or regulations, as well as company policies), working closely with fellow compliance team members and cross-functional partners, including employment, human resources, finance, and security
Draft investigation plans, conduct interviews, review forensics and evidentiary documentation, and complete analysis and investigation reports
Advise on and make recommendations for investigation outcomes and follow-up actions
Develop and enhance investigation related procedures and trainings
Spot trends and themes, including root causes, matter classification, and disciplinary results
Prepare and provide updates on investigations, including trends and learnings, to internal stakeholders, including senior management
Establish and promote enterprise-wide, cross-functional best practices relating to the conduct of investigations and assist in the development, implementation, and enhancement of company policies and investigation processes
Engage with stakeholders on compliance and disclosure matters, including responding to requests for information and assisting in audit responses, and support responses to law enforcement inquiries, subpoenas, and external investigations
Provide counsel on legal and regulatory issues that arise in connection with investigation matters, as well as general compliance matters
Assist with other compliance and special projects as needed
What We’re Looking For:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. law school
Minimum 5 years of experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal and compliance department
Experience conducting complex and sensitive investigations for 5-8 years.
Must be admitted to the bar of at least one state with ability to provide legal services from state of residence
Excellent analytical skills and strong and clear verbal and written communications skills
Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional and cross-business teams at all levels of the organization to achieve results
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and can prioritize and manage a high-volume workload while working independently, with minimal supervision
Additional Preferred Experiences
3+ years experience in employment law
Experience providing legal counsel on a wide range of compliance issues
Experience building compliance programs and effecting change management
Strong understanding of the elements of an effective compliance program for a publicly-traded, global company
Superior teamwork skills, with ability to gain the respect of, and build a rapport with, multiple constituencies, internally and externally
Self-starter and ownership mentality, ability to work independently and collaboratively
