About 1Password:

We all have important information we need to manage, and protecting it should be easy. Over 150,000 businesses and millions of people log in to 1Password to unlock smart, simple access to everything they care about. Our vision is to create a safer, simpler digital future for everyone, and our culture values simplicity, honesty and a human-centric approach to solving problems. Come help us unlock peace of mind so everyone can stay safer online.

We're seeking an experienced cybersecurity writer and strategic content marketer to join our team as a Sr. Content Marketing Manager. You will help the Content team shape the voice of 1Password to achieve our brand and category-building objectives. Your ultimate measure of success will be writing world-class caliber content that:

- Illustrates how 1Password has created a new category and demonstrates its leadership

- Advances 1Password’s journey from a single product to a multi-product platform

- Showcases 1Password’s value proposition as an enterprise cybersecurity provider without alienating millions of loyal consumer customers

- Builds relevancy and trust with security buyers

- Demonstrates that 1Password is a world-class cybersecurity company on par with Fortune 100 firms

In this role, you will be a driving force behind our content marketing, shaping how the world perceives and interacts with 1Password. You will help orchestrate a symphony of storytelling across multiple channels to captivate audiences, spark conversations, and drive meaningful connections.

1Password’s brand stands for something different. We believe that security software should make its users more productive, not inject productivity-robbing friction into their daily experience. Unlike most enterprise security software companies who build software for security administrators that is then imposed on employees, for the last eighteen years, we have embraced a human-centric approach to everything from our product design, North Star, to ways we engage with customers and future buyers. One of the joys and challenges you will face in this role is to build on this legacy and help our audiences understand and appreciate what sets us apart.

Reporting directly to the Director of Content Marketing: this is a remote role within the US or Canada.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Sr. Content Marketing Manager, Sr. Writer, or a similar senior role for a cybersecurity company.

  • At least six years of experience writing content, with experience working for companies targeting cybersecurity.

  • A deep understanding of the cybersecurity industry, trends, and technologies, and the ability to construct persuasive storytelling for security and IT audiences.

  • Experience sourcing and working with external agencies, vendors, individual freelancers, and budgets.

  • High journalistic standards, communicators, and presenters of content ideas.

  • Exceptional storytelling skills, with the ability to craft and guide narratives that resonate with technical audiences, building trust and engagement at every stage of the buyer's journey.

  • Demonstrated critical and creative thinking skills with a collaborative approach to supporting a cross-functional team through complex content marketing challenges.

  • Proficiency in buyer journeys for B2B cybersecurity executives and practitioners.

  • Eager to push the boundaries of traditional content marketing with a passion for innovation, exploring new formats, platforms, and approaches to deliver exceptional audience experiences.

What you can expect:

  • Editorial Excellence: Develop high-quality, long-form editorial content that engages security and IT leaders. Ensure the content is deeply researched, thought-provoking, and aligned with industry trends.

  • Thought Leadership: Craft insightful, forward-thinking content that positions 1Password as a trusted voice in cybersecurity. Develop compelling narratives highlighting industry challenges, emerging trends, and innovative solutions.

  • Content Production: Deliver a diverse range of content, including core web pages, campaign landing pages, and sales materials, ensuring clarity, impact, and brand alignment.

  • Editorial Oversight: Act as a key editor for the Content team, upholding quality standards and ensuring messaging consistency across all assets.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of our buyers' challenges and how 1Password solutions drive key business outcomes. Translate insights into compelling narratives.

  • Marketing Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with marketing, product, and sales teams to strategize, develop, and implement content that powers campaigns and product launches.

  • Content Strategy: Shape and execute content marketing strategies that support growth initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals and market positioning.

  • Cross-functional Storytelling: Partner with teams across the organization to craft compelling stories about campaigns, product innovations, and thought leadership.

  • Industry Intelligence: Stay ahead of cybersecurity trends, competitive movements, and market shifts, informing content strategy with timely insights.

  • Brand Voice & Consistency: Write and edit across content types, ensuring brand voice is consistent, engaging, and impactful across all touchpoints.

  • AI & Editorial Innovation: Leverage AI tools to optimize editorial workflows, streamline content production, and enhance research capabilities.

  • SEO & Performance Optimization: Leverage SEO best practices to increase domain authority, enhance organic search performance, and grow audience engagement. Use data-driven insights to refine content strategies.

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $128,000 USD and $173,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $118,000 CAD and $160,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

At 1Password, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.

We believe in the power of remote work, but we also recognize that in-person connection is sometimes important to help us achieve our mission. While we are a remote-first company, occasional travel for in-person engagement will be a part of this role. Frequency will depend on role and responsibilities, and may include, but is not limited to, annual department-wide offsites, team meetings, and customer/industry events. These events will typically be held in varying locations across Canada and the US.
