Solutions Engineering Mission

Solutions Engineers are the trusted advisors of the customer. By identifying various areas of applicability, defining value by adoption and helping leadership see the business outcomes by expansion, Solutions engineers are responsible for making a compelling case for product growth within the customer organization. You will partner with our Customer AI Engineers (CAE) and Strategic Account Executives (SAE) in our more complex and technical engagements in order to grow the accounts at an enterprise scale.

The Solutions Engineering team serves as the technical leaders throughout the pre-sales and post-sales customer success journey. The Solutions Engineering team possesses a deep, fundamental understanding of the product and its connection to the customer’s aspiration through occasional PoVs. Your mission is to understand our clients' requirements and technical challenges, and to design and implement solutions that leverage the full potential of our platform to enable them to achieve their localization goals.

The SE team is uniquely positioned to understand market demands for workflows, features, and direction, while also being technically adept at identifying product gaps that users may encounter. Solutions Engineers serve as a critical bridge between Product & Engineering teams and customer-facing teams, ensuring the product stays ahead of competition and aligned with market trends.

What you will be doing:

As a Solutions Engineer (SE) at Smartcat, you’ll align customer requirements with Smartcat’s technology to deliver scalable, value-focused solutions aligned to customer’s business needs. In this role, you will:

  • Leading Technical Discovery — Partner with Account Executives to uncover customer goals, workflows, and pain points. Conduct deep-dive discovery sessions to identify opportunities for Smartcat to deliver measurable value and align with business goals.

  • Collaborating with Account Executives and Customer AI Engineers  — Act as the technical counterpart during the sales cycle, aligning business outcomes with technical feasibility. Support CAEs in ensuring seamless transitions from presales to deployment, setting customers up for long-term adoption and satisfaction.

  • Owning the Presales process  — Lead product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and solution presentations for prospective clients. Showcase Smartcat’s capabilities through tailored demos that address specific customer pain points and ROI goals to deliver the Technical Win.

  • Solutioning and Requirements Gathering — Translate business needs into clear technical architectures and workflow maps. Define solution scope, integration requirements, and success criteria to ensure smooth implementation and customer alignment.

  • Security Questionnaires and RFP Responses  — Collaborate with Legal, Security, and Product teams to complete technical due diligence, including RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires. Communicate Smartcat’s security posture to enterprise prospects.

  • CRM Management  — Maintain accurate records of all technical presales activities within CRM systems, ensuring visibility into deal stage, opportunity tracking, and post-sale follow-up.

  • Representing Smartcat at Customer and Industry Events — Serve as a Smartcat technical expert at conferences, webinars, and customer onsite visits. Present platform capabilities, lead live demonstrations, and share success stories that showcase Smartcat’s innovation in AI-driven content workflows while strengthening customer confidence and deepening strategic partnerships.

  • Bug Triaging and Platform Improvement Requests  — Serve as the technical bridge between customers and the Product team. Collect feedback, identify product gaps, and advocate for enhancements that improve customer experience and expand Smartcat’s capabilities.

  • Technical Documentation  — Create, organize, and maintain detailed technical documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and scalability across Smartcat.

  • Develop Deep Platform Expertise  — Become a subject-matter expert on the Smartcat platform. Master its core value proposition, integrations, AI capabilities, and end-to-end workflows. Continuously expand your technical knowledge to advise customers on best practices, innovative use cases, and optimal solution design. Act as a trusted advisor internally and externally, helping teams and clients unlock the full potential of Smartcat’s technology.

What we’re looking for:

  • BS/MS in engineering, analytics, or a related discipline, with 2-5 years of experience in analytical sales or client-facing technical roles such as Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Value Engineering, Management Consulting, or similar professional services.

  • Proven ability to understand, design, and troubleshoot complex implementations; familiarity with RESTful APIs (JSON), data migration, and configuring complex software integrations.

  • A strong interest or working knowledge of AI technologies, including LLMs, prompt engineering, and agents/skills.

  • Deep experience in technical presales, ideally in AI SaaS or enterprise environments, with a background in enterprise sales and change management.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to explain complex CAT or Generative AI concepts to technical and business stakeholders, including C-level audiences.

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise CMS, PIM or ERP Solutions (AEM, Drupal, Sitecore, etc.)

  • Track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships, providing post-sale support, and driving long-term adoption and satisfaction.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills, strong problem-solving and influencing skills, and a collaborative attitude.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to support client engagements and sales activities.
